It took me over 100 hours of gameplay to realize I can change the color, and by that time I was so used to green I didn't really want to change it.

Oh Yeah, that's why my pipboy is white.

I went back to New Vegas after a loooong hiatus and I couldn't figure out why it was white. I must have just changed it before I stopped playing.

Thought I'd gotten an upgrade or gone insane.

In New Vegas I started with the default naturally. Now here's the thing, I'm colour blind. So when I found a box which to me seemed to be marked 'open' in amber it was in fact red and I lost karma for stealing. Fortunately no one saw me so I didn't get attacked as well. Since then I stick to the bright colours so I don't accidentally nab peoples property, either white or blue.

Green in Fallout 3
Amber in New Vegas

I feel like I should play using the colour the designers intended.

I kept it green in Fallout 3 because the green kept with the theme of nuclear wasteland, whereas New Vegas is closer to a Western, and the amber fits the dirty brown of the slightly-more-civilised side of the wasteland.

Amber. Not so intrusive and if faded a bit blends in properly without being hard to see.

No you can't not at all. The OP was just trolling and everyone else in the thread that posted before you is simply going along with it...

Yes of course you can change the color, what even post the question. You couldn't have been expecting a real answer. Unless you are actually asking how to change the color, in which case why not just ask that?

I didn't even knew I could change the color of my pip-boy until my second playthrough of Fallout 3 therefore green was my pick.

Fallout 3: Green or Blue

Fallout: New Vegas: I stick with the default Amber. It just goes better with the sun drenched Mojave Wasteland

Blue because it makes everything easier to see. Same for the HUD when I don't have it turned off.
