So if a game is billed as taking X hours to play, are typically finishing it faster or slower?

I'm SLOW at gaming... upside is I really enjoy each game. Downside: I play fewer number of games.

Which do you prefer and why?

I usually finish games very fast. New titles often in one or two days after I get them. But I replay games I like many times, so I enjoy them for a long time.

Take ME2 as an example i want to enjoy my first playthrough as much as possible but I end up playing for two days straight and then going through again with multiple playthroughs

I'm a bit of a mix depending how you look at it.

In game time wise I'm generally on the quicker side of things, but real life I no longer have the time to really play a lot every day - I game maybe a couple times a week for a couple hours. So it can still take me a long time to beat a game.

At the same time I also am a bit of a completionist, tho not to an extreme level. But still, I like to give a good effort to finding hiddem items so in certain games it can slow down progress.

You should change the poll.

See, i'm a fast gamer, i complete games faster than any person i know personally, and i don't like it - it causes me to finish games over and over, and then i know everything about the game, and i don't want to play it anymore. I'm bored as hell right now. I don't have anything else to do.

Depends on online or offline.

Offline, beat that shit and move on (discounting offline multiplayer.)

Online, if it's good I'll stick with it for a looong time.

Usually if I see a time achievement of some sort, I think for a moment then realize "nah, I'm never gonna get that on the first playthrough". Admitting this I take my time on my first run to try and experience as many different things as are available. RPGs like Shenmu and Oblivion are my anti productivity as I try and find every little thing. Same goes for adventures like Dead Space where finagling every ounce of gameplay out of it is paramount. Even fast paced FPS games like MW and such I'll spend time just looking at scenery and trying to appreciate whats going on around me, after all the level designer built it for a reason, large areas are to be explored.
The play fast thing is well and good, oft I'm caught skipping through really long winded dialogue but that's because it's usually put in inappropriate areas such as the middle of a firefight. Considering the long and short of how video games have evolved story and visual wise, I think it's fine to stop and smell the sprite roses every once in awhile.

I savor every bit of a game, constantly side-tracking and back-traking. Except for WoW where I tried to help push my guilds to the finish and then would go back and make up for lost content.

this. i enjoy the hell out of alot of titles, end up trading them in or trading with friends fast to get the other new games that are out then rinse and repeat

however, there are quite a few games that i have that are keepers..and man do i replay the fuck out of them. my favorite rpg's i have easily beaten a good 30+ times depending on which one it is.

I tend to play slow for Trophy/Achievement purposes, but I really end up loving the games I play anyway, so it's a win-win. I get multiple playthroughs of great games, and I get all my achievements.

Depends on the genre... but in any RPG or action adventure with exploration elements... slower, much slower.

Single-player FPS campaigns, though... faster.

I usally go through fast because I keep wanting to continue. But then I have nothing to play...

Same when I drink...

I hope this doesn't become a universal rule for me.
