Poll: favorite army on warhammer 40,000

I've played Tau since they were released, October '01. (Oh, hey, 8th anniversary. That'd be special for Tau, seeing as they use base 8 arithmetic...) I've got something like 4000 points of them now, 3000 or maybe a smidgen less painted.

I also have an absolutely ancient Imperial Guard tank army (1st edition plastic infantry!) that's largely unpainted, and Rogue Trader beakies for my White Scars chapter.

Tau and Necrons. Tau because they use smart tactics compared to most other forces, and due to having sensible philosophy.

Necrons because they have the most personality and character in the setting.

Compare, say, Space Marines: Mindless GoW-style hulks filled with religious zealotry and always winning.

Then look at Necrons: Ancient beings with a long history of terrible wars, trapped inside metal shells of their own construction. They're filled with bitterness and insanity, because even in winning the War in Heaven, even in defeating the Old Ones, they were still left as naught but metal shells. They wander the galaxy, lost, without purpose, striking at the living in hopeless jealousy. Their civilization is long dead, their hope is gone, and they're trapped in these bodies, doomed never to feel sensation again.

They will never feel the warmth of sunlight, never taste a good meal, never embrace a loved one. Nothing is left to them but to kill and destroy, in cold, hopeless agony, until the stars themselves are gone.

I say the Necrons have plenty of character; Black Library's authors are just too obsessed with humans to make use of it.

Guard > orks > Tau. The guard are unlucky. In any other universe, the average guardsman would be packing firepower that could only be considered overkill. Unfortunately for them, they live in the universe that contains the Orks, and considers -them- cannon fodder.

I like 40k and personally I like Necrons because they get up again (what does that mean?). I also like Tau because I like their philosophy. And lastly, I like chaos because they're fucking chaos! what more do you need?

Grammar. Also, it's Favourite Army In Warhammer 40,000. On makes in sound like a TV show or is just poor grammar.

Anyway, I chose Eldar at the end of the day because you forgot to list my favourite army, the Dark Eldar. Savage, treacherous and cruel; the way I like them!

Thank you for relieving me of my grammar nazi duties for this one. Just to help answer your question, what the OP means by the Necrons getting back up is literally that; when shot down, the Necrons can try and get back up on their feet, Terminator-style

lol, people are entitled to their own opinion, i never knew why people liked fishing so much, just never appealed to me.

New rules for vehicle damage sucks though. now if you score a glancing hit on a vehicle you simply take two from the number you rolled in the damage table. Used to be that ANY Necron Gauss weapon could destroy even a land raider if you rolled right. now all i can hope to do is stunn it to death.

I wouldn't worry too much about the vehicle damage chart if I were you, Masked. Try being Tyranids and blowing up a tank at range lol. Plus, the Necrons are rumoured to be getting updated after the tyranids (yay! updated! with a Trygon!)
