Hi and Howdy,

Checked out the Avengers movie yet? For me, it brings back the happy ol' days of renting the little Nes cartridges from the local video store. The one game that got rented the (next to Battletoads and Captain Skyhawk) was Captain America and the Avengers.

T'was a curious little gem. A platforming (naturally) game, Captain America and the Avengers on the NES departed from its 2D Beat 'em Up brethren and gameplay more similar to Contra and TMNT 1.

Surprisingly, the Movie and the game had a thing or two in common. Even more surprisingly, the 8 bit game had one or two things better than the movie.

Check out my review of the Avengers movie and the Avengers games.

The only Marvel game I really liked growing up was...I don't even remember. I just know it was an X-Man game, it was multi-player...I liked being Nightcrawler.

I also really enjoyed the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games. Though sadly, my favorite comic book character (She-Hulk) is only playable in the DS version of UA2 which...why would you get a game like for that the DS? Yeah...

Hope you mean X-Men arcade : ) I deliberately left that one out - and focused more on games that had a few Avengers characters in them (Maximum Carnage at least has Captain America...)

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Admittedly, not the best in the series, but the one that took itself the most seriously.

Favorite Team to use is Captain America, Iron Fist, and Chris Redfield. Admittedly Jill might work better, but I cannot bring myself to pay 5 dollars to use her.

Also Rocket Raccoon is awesome. Just the idea of a raccoon supremacist from his world's 3rd Reich equivalent is so wrong that it becomes awesome.

List doesn't have The Punisher, list is fail.

Not only was it one hell of a great Punisher game, it was one of the best Third Person Shooters on the PS2.
Hell yes! That is the most underrated game in video game history.

At the very beginning of Rise of the Imperfects they show Captain America, the Hulk and Punisher all being killed. The game even gives you the opportunity to sacrifice Avengers (if I'm remembering correctly - Electra and Mr Fantastic were mine...)

Yeah, Punisher took me by surprise, I'd thought it be like a cheap Max Payne wannabe...

My two favourites are not on the list - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and X Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse.

My Avengers team (mostly Avengers, anyway) is Iron Man, Hulk and Chris. Hulk gets a lot done...

X Men Legends 2 was underrated. Was a Baldur's Gate rip-off but was a hell of a lot of fun. You could choose from 16 different X Men if I can remember correctly, and in each of the 5 worlds was a piece of Tony Stark's Iron Man armour that would give you Iron Man as a team-mate if you got all 5. There was also an unlockable Professor X character (who was able to walk), but I forget how you could unlock him. Was a really fun game, you even fought MODOK!

I'll take Ultimate Alliance 2 only because you actually get to play as Carnage (my favorite Marvel villain) with the DLC.

And on a side note, Green Goblin in that game is just ridiculously overpowered. Just give him the badge that lets you gain special power every time you hit someone with a regular attack, hop on your glider and start mowing EVERYONE down...that badge ensures that you have infinite "ammo".

I liked Hulk: Ultimate destruction. At least I think that was what it was called. But you run around as the Hulk, wreaking shit. Damn fun.

Spiderman 2 and Ultimate Spiderman were my two favourites, although Marvel Ultimate Alliance was great as well.

I don't know what it is but web slinging around New York is so darn enjoyable!

I think X-Men Legends 2 was my favorite. I haven't played it in yeeaars, though, so I don't know how I'd like it now. But I loved it so much back when I played it on my roommate's Xbox in college that I played it again immediately after beating it.

Out of those options? None. The best Marvel game ever is Spiderman 2, no doubt. Web slinging around New York City, beating up thugs, tossing them down from various tall places, piledriving them down from various tall places, and last but not least, jumping from the top of Empire State Building and see just how far you can fall before you need to web sling away in order to avoid braining yourself onto the concrete streets below.

So much fun...

I didn't know you could play as Carnage or Green Goblin in that one. I enjoyed the first Ultimate Alliance. I might have to pick this one up. I've been in the mood for some mindless action anyway.

Carnage is part of a DLC character pack, think it's him, Dr. Doom, Magneto, and someone else. I forget, it's been quite a while since I've played it. If you liked the first one you'll definitely like Ultimate Alliance 2...and yeah, Carnage is a badass. :3

Goblin, on the other hand, you get towards the end of the game (and you keep him when starting a New Game +) and like I said, you can make him so that he just murders everyone on his hoverboard. The regular attack shoots out rapid fire lasers buy drains your special power, you can also chuck exploding pumpkins of course. But with the buff that I mentioned, you can give your laser blasters infinite ammo and mow down waves and waves of enemies.

I voted for Marvel vs Capcom on the poll, but I also have a special place in my heart for the X-Men legends series and Spider-Man 2.

I remember playing the Captain America and the Avengers arcade game in a few comic shops when I was younger and it was great(maybe not X-men Arcade great, but close). If I found one in an arcade somewhere, I'd feel almost obligated to drop a few quarters just to get the nostalgia rush.
