Well, Meshuggah is one band, and an experimental one at that. It does depend on the music in question, but in general, drums and bass tend to have more supporting roles.Novskij said:I disagree, In Meshuggah Drums are the forefront of the band, almost everything seems to be based around Thomas Haake double bass drums, and probably same thing with Slayer(forgot the drummers name, but he was important in the development of double base), not too mention Drums are an extremely important instrument in Death Metal.Citrus Insanity said:Guitar.
Drums and bass are more complementary instruments, in my opinion; they're vital for a band to have, but they can't really stand on their own. They sort of lack the flexibility and authority that vocals and guitars have, I guess. Some people see the whole behind-the-scenes thing as a pro rather than a con, but I guess I just prefer the forefront instruments. Piano would be my second choice.
Awww, you can't beat a good bass solo. For me it would be the bass, because it's so underused. For example the intro to N.I.B by Black Sabbath is so great!Citrus Insanity said:Guitar.
