Okay, so now that Skyrim's been out for a while and everyone's had the chance to get a feel for the game and make their comparisons to past RPGs, what would you say is your favorite RPG by Bethesda?

For me, I still prefer Morrowind over everything else. I know that I'm blinded by both nostalgia and an absurd amount of mods but I love that game to death. From an objective standpoint Skyrim is better in a lot of ways, but meh, I still love Morrowind.

And for the record, I know Obsidian made New Vegas, but I'm adding it anyway because shut up. And I'm kind of curious how many people can honestly say Arena was their best game.

EDIT: I bolded that I knew NV wasn't by Bethesda because I was tired of people correcting me.

Morrowind, then Skyrim.

Fallout 3/Oblivion/NV were all equally shitty, and I've never played Arena or Daggerfall.

New Vegas wasn't made by Bethesda.
I'm going with Oblivion, I've played Skyrim for 21 hours and given up, the combat makes me want to break something.

It'll take a while for the Skyrim smoke to clear, but I think when it does, it'll be considered the best. It is just that good in my opinion.

Still Morrowind....although Skyrim has come closer than any other game to toppling it from my all-time favourites list.

Judging by the sheer amount of time spent on the games...

Morrowind: Roughly 120 hours total.
Oblivion: Roughly 300ish hours total.
Fallout 3: 150~200 hours total.
Fallout NV: 45ish hours.
Skyrim: 100 hours the first week.

Skyrim got a bit to go before reaching Oblivions hour-count, but yeah, I love it. I love it a lot.

I had very low expectations for Skyrim, I thought Bethesda had lost their touch. Oblivion was meh, and I couldn't stand the modern Fallouts. So I was shocked when I actually enjoyed Skyrim more than Morrowind.

Out of that list, definitely New Vegas, but I'm enjoying Skyrim quite a lot. Much more than Oblivion. I admit I haven't given Morrowind much of a fair shake, always got distracted from playing it. Want to try out Daggerfall when I get the chance.

I'm gonna cause a flame war... Daggerfall.

Simply because it's the definition of "completely open", it's entirely dedicated to making the biggest world it can, it had great random dungeons, and the magic system was at its peak.

Skyrim has a chance to impress me, come Christmas Day.

Are you seriously saying that fallout 3 and new vegas are of the same quality as oblivion which was one of the worst rpgs ever made by
Bethesda?
If you are, then you have a bad understanding of what a good rpg is.
I chose skyrim, then morrowind, because they are both awesome.

I suppose if I had to choose Oblivion is the worst, but Fallout 3 and New Vegas are still terrible.

And why do I have a bad understanding? Because I disagree with you?

I am having an inner conflict on Morrowind and Skyrim. As Skyrim is VERY good and I played Morrowind to hell and back. I think I will take Morrowind though. Even though the Combat was UGH

Definitely Morrowind. Maybe Skyrim is better, I don't know because I'm looking at Morrowind with nostalgia goggles. But I remember loving every minute of it. I also remember that it had walk on water and levitate spells. Fuck it, you could make spells in Morrowind (and Oblivion but Oblivion sucked). Anyway, Skyrim is an awesome game, but Morrowind will always be one of the best games I've ever played. And I was only a kid when it first came out.

"Wake Up. We're Here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up. Stand up. There you go. You were dreaming. What's your name?... Well, not even last night's storm could wake you. I heard them say we've reached Morrowind, I'm sure they'll let us go."

Oh my God, I think I just just had a nostalgiagasm; now I almost want to stop playing Skyrim and start up Morrowind again. I'm definitely in the same boat as you though. Obviously there are things Bethesda has improved over the nine years since Morrowind (combat comes to mind), but that game is classic and is part of my childhood.

New Vegas, mainly cause it was made by Obsidian instead of Bethesda. I've never been able to get into the Elder Scrolls games before Skyrim, and I've only played somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour of that so I can't really judge if it'll top NV or not. As for Fallout 3, I felt it was definitely an improvement over Oblivion for sure but still was just missing something to me. Meanwhile New Vegas has been an absolute delight to play, watch, talk about, etc.

Well I've never liked any of their games... but I think Skyrim... as much as I've played so far is their best...
