here are my reviews

Baldur's Gate , great rpg, dnd ftw
Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn , a better bg (best), also the expansion is epic.
Neverwinter Nights , medicore single play (powerplay)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic , refreshing and deep
Jade Empire , good, abrupt ending
Mass Effect , great setting, short main story, weak sidequests, light rpg elements.
Dragon Age: Origins , very very cliche main story and setting, everything else is good.
Sonic Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood, didnt play. a DS game i suppose.

KOTOR is second in my RPG top three, first being KOTOR 2. I'm not sure why but I managed to get way more immersed in the sequel.

By the gods, you expect me to CHOOSE? May silvanus strike you down >.> j/k
In all honesty, I LOVE all bioware RPGs I've played this far...4 of them or so. So therefore! I will put my top 4

1. BG 1 - this takes the grand prize because it started the main Baldur's Gate storyline and introduced lovable characters and a big and free world. Also, it had the quickest/best start, in my opinion.
2. BG 2 - Because it continues the story from BG 1 in a reasonable and exciting way. Minus points for Irenicus' dungeon ._. I hate - HATE - that area...Although I'm not done with the game yet, in fact, I'm just getting into the swing of things again, but all looks well with the introduction of yoshimo (and unexplainably enough, some chick named kachiko who clings to yoshimo like a leech) and aerie. The quests do seem top-notch, perhaps even better than the first game's. Feels a tad bit "slower" though.
3. KOTOR 1 - Better storyline/twist, more interesting to visit the planets before they got all messed up (I'm looking at you, korriban). Introduces quite many lovable characters, HK-47 and canderous spring to mind, carth as well. Clever puzzles (if you can call them that) and in general just a top-notch game. The reason this ain't on top is I got a special place in my heart for Fantasy over Sci-fi.
4. KOTOR 2 - or as I like to call it - MALACHOR V x infinity. Big minus points for the whole business about malachor V and the story in general, as well as the characters. I especially HATED go-T0...and the blond guy was okay, but uninteresting, as was the miraluka. Kreia was...not a poorly-written character, but still... Even so, it was more of what I loved, and I can honestly say I loved this game despite it's faults.

Well, there's my list folks. Hope you enjoyed, and I hope I manage to obtain the other games (and the consoles to run them), so that I can give better feedback :3

Really tough choice. In the end i chose BG2. But, even though it wasn't in the poll, i would still chose Planescape:Torment. Yes, yes, i know. But they were both made by BlackIsle, one of the best game developers ever, in my oppinion. It's hard not to link them together.

Mass effect, for some reason in my head a games goodness points get doubled for have your character say the lines that you choose from the avalible dialogue options. DA:O lost a million points out of a possible bazillion because your character was silent during conversations and the stupid crappy facial expressions in DA:O were pathetic, why dont game developers outsource all lipsyncing and facial expressions to valve? (i know its a stupid question with an obvious answer so please dont call me ignorant for asking)(it wouldv been easier to just say its rhetorical i suppose)

Went for Mass Effect. The fantasy world of Dragon Age and it's ilk doesn't really appeal to me as much as the sci fi theme. Didn't really like the whole pointy clicky gameplay of KOTOR as much as the the gameplay in ME so I got bored really quick. Luckily it only cost me £1.50 to find that out.

If you're a big KOTOR fan don't take offense, I'm not bad-mouthing the game. It just didn't click with me.

In my order of preference:
Dragon Age: Origins, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Knights of the Old Republic, Icewind Dale 2, Icewind Dale, Mass Effect, Neverwinter Nights.

Baldur's Gate was my all time favourite game, and since then I've waited for an age and a half for a game to knock it from the number one spot (Fallout and Elderscrolls just didn't take the cake for me). Dragon Age: Origins did so, not because of the story or the graphics, but because at it's core I felt just as immersed in the gameworld as I did with Baldur's Gate, if not more so. That and even more challenging battles, numerous tactics to choose from, some (in my opinion) very good game design decisions made the supposed spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate feel much better than I ever did from playing any other RPG to date.
Thus, my favourite is Dragon Age: Origins, and I eagerly await the next game to steal the spotlight. Hopefully an RPG by Bioware.
Mass Effect, sadly, didn't cut it for my love of RPGs, although definitely a step up from Neverwinter Nights, I felt that the third-person shooter aspect made the game slightly weaker than it could potentially have been with a combat system (this could also have made it very unwieldy and diabolical, but still, I think I personally would have preferred a combat system).

I feel sad that Dragon Age isn't getting more love but I had to vote for KOTOR. If only for the epic plot twist.

Mass Effect was good but just a little over rated. Dragon Age I haven't finished yet but i'm still having fun 27 odd hours in.

Not played BG or BGII and never will. Don't have time or inclination. KOTOR II I played before KOTOR and found it easier and not quite as good although it was my first RPG so it does have a special place in my heart.

I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 2 though. And the next Dragon Age (you know there'll be a sequel!)

None.
All their games that i played (most, but not dragon age and sonic) are repetitive to death.

What i liked in a few of them;
Mass effect had a very fun, fast-paced combat system and nice music... but all the side missions were absolute garbage.
The first Neverwinter Nights had a good editor (only the scripts were impossible to understand).

Mass Effect just edges out the original KoTOR in my books. I haven't played Dragon Age:Origins yet. So that could be my next favourite. The only other game in that list I've played is Jade Empire, which, while excellent, wasn't as fantastically awesome as the other two.
