Which one of the Origins stories is your favorite?

Mine is a tie between the Noble Origin and the Mage Origin.

The Noble Origin doesn't really give much weight to the overall plot, but it pays off big time when you have your showdown with Howe near the end.

The Mage Origin on the other hand deals significantly with the plot, as the Mages tower quest becomes more complicated after knowing the inner workings of the circle.

So what's your favorite origin?

Dalish Elf because I think it is probably the cannon version, if one is forced to decide which of the six is the official one. The reason I say this is because of the mirror. That is never resolved, and it plays a huge role in Witch Hunt. If you didn't play the Dalish origin story, you'd have no idea about this thing.

The City Elf had the most emotion to it, as I made sure every single person died in that castle. Human Noble was good motivator too. The Mage finally answered my question of what was behind those stupid doors I could never access when in the tower, and the two dwarf ones shed very good light on the situation in Orzzamar.

I'll quote myself from a few weeks ago:

Dalish Elf.

I think its a pretty great intro to the world as your character knows about as much concerning the wide world and Fereldan internal politics as the player does. So when you get the dialog for certain things amounts to "And why should I give a crap about this? I have a world to save!", you can actually mean it.

Though with your extra bit of taint is does give the game a sort of fatalist feel to it. You're going to die pretty soon regardless, might as well go out like a hero. Made all the more bitter since my character (and myself) started off as disliking humans but through Alistair was slowly won over and in the end after an adorable romance had to watch him kill himself to save me and his home :-/

Then continue on in the expansion without him and deal with that Two-Timing ***** Anora as queen.

Dragon Age may not have been a happy game for me, but damn if it wasn't immersive.

Even though I like most of them, dwarf commoner is probably my favorite. You actually get to do roguey stuff, and a dwarf rogue is just cool. City elf makes a great start to my evil elf assassin characters. Dalish is good for making a Leolas clone.

Dalish

it's the only one that didn't feel like it was just pasted onto the beginning of the game to tell you where you came from...

would have been nice if the Dalish weren't the most worthless characters though...

My vote definitely goes to the city elf story. I've played through Dragon Age more times then I'd like to admit and being a city elf is still by far my favorite. Call me petty but I find revenge to be very satisfying. Killing that noble bastard gave me a sense of fulfillment. It also made the return to the alienage more compelling - I had made the place a mess and now I was trying to fix it again.

Dwarf Noble was god damn epic. You learn the brutality of Dwarven Politics and the bitter taste of betrayal. But, let me assure you, asses were handed back to their rightful owners when I returned to Orzammar.

I agree completely with this. I pretended to help Bhelen right until the crowning, and betrayed him to Harrowmont. It was pretty awesome.

Human Noble, because of the bonus appearance from Tim Curry, who was a major part of why I got the game in the first place.

I also agree. I gotta say, I'm *still* mad about the betrayal. It was an epic origin no doubt. And I also really loved being an Orzammar Dwarf. I still would have rather stayed in the Deep Roads fighting the Blight there than losing my birthright...but that loss drove me through the story in the most amazing way...plus, it was really interesting playing a character that actually has nothing to do with the Maker--because Dwarves don't show up in the Fade.

I liked the human noble story, I just found the part about being the last of a family line really interesting. Also, it gives the fight with Howe a little more meaning too, plus the Howe character from Awakenings hates you.

My favorites were the Dwarf Noble, the Mage, and the City Elf stories.
I like the mage the most just because I love being a magic user. I also love how you choose to be loyal to your friend or the order and get back at them. It is also nice that you run into him again later on. It is a shame that you can't be nicer to him. >.> I kinda would have been like "Hey buddy! How is your new freedom? Oh wait your in a cage... Let me help with that so I can beat the shit out of you for when you lied to me."
The Dwarf Noble story is just made of awesome no matter how you play it out, and the city Elf story has...You fucking up a noble for trying to take your woman? I don't know I always feel good after killing that prick.
The Human story just felt oh so cliche' and the Dalish Elf one didn't have much effect other than the in the opening. You never see anyone from that story again, as far as I noticed.
The Dwarf commoner story... I just didn't care for it. It isn't because I hated it or not.

City Elf was my favourite by a long shot. Easily had the most emotion to it. Playing as a blood-spattered bride murderizing her way through that castle then turning down the noble's offer and gutting him was extremely satisfying.

...

As for the others...

Dwarf Rogue was pretty good too. Taking off your helmet had a nice "fuck you" feeling.

Dalish Elf was fairly uninteresting. Although I did really like the scene where you say goodbye to everyone.

Dwarf and Human Noble just didn't do it for me. I guess I just don't like starting out on top. Being an underdog is more interesting and relatable.

Human Noble easily, it seemed the most fully-fleshed, got a nice little extra bit with Curry (Howe), always a bonus in my book, and it seemed like the whole story fit a good deal better then some of the other origins.

Murdering everybody as a City Elf felt good, Tim Curry was Curry in the Human Noble origin, but my favorite was the Mage.

Because it has a bear that tells riddles.

I really liked all of them except the Human Noble story.

mostly because you can see both your parents. My human noble female was black, but both my parents were white? How well did Duncan know my family? Or was I adopted? Or do I have a serious tan? Do both my parents have the receive albino trait that my brother got but I didn't?
And just as my sense of self slowly coming back my lesbian elf girlfriend gets killed and I find out that my mom dresses like a dominatrix when she's waiting for my dad to "come to bed."

I'd say my favorite is the city elf background story

For me, it's a tie between both Dwarf origin stories. The commoner story left me with a true distaste for the primitive caste system in Orzammar, and the Noble story made returning to Orzammar later on much more entertaining, and it made it so that when my character reached the surface, he knew as little as I did. As with the Noble Dwarf, I really felt like I had a score to settle with Bhelen during the return to Orzammar.

And the part with your friend, Tamriel I think was his name. That was intense. It really pulled on the heart strings.

OT:Im going to go with the Dalish Elf story, because its really teh only one where you are forced by circumstance to join the Wardens, not the Right of Conscription. It was the most unique and was great fun. Plus the Abovementioned moments with your best frined later in the game
