Explosive......fists.

Hellfire raging everywhere amidst a storm of flame and agonized cries of the dying.

For Borderlands 1 I did't pay much attention to elemental damage baring two weapons. Mid-way through my playthrough I found an Eridian sniper rifle. It had infinite regenerating ammo, lighting and was HITSCAN. Needless to say it wasn't pawned off. That and a volcano sniper rifle were the only elemental weapons I used.

Borderlands 2 will be the same as Axton has a ability where he gains a bonus with non-elemental guns, combined with a slag upgraded turret and everything will fall.

I decided to change up my usual build and use a tempest mod this time around, so I'm rocking lightning.

My Orion melts claptraps like butter, and my overcharged Radiance makes sure that the only one with a shield is me.

This character's Eridian proficiency currently sucks though, but eventually I'll rock my Eridian Rifle and Thunderstorm.

Those brains ain't gonna microwave themselves.

I went with the shotguns with absurd damage but crap accuracy and just killed everything from five feet away. Elemental considerations were sadly never a factor in this strategy

Same. First character I used was Brick with shotguns and I always chose the stronger shotgun over any loss of accuracy because I had enough health to be practically down their nostrils until they were dead.

I liked carrying the Maliwan Chimera Pistol on Mordecai. It's a Russian Roulette of pain. (randomly changes through Shock, Acid, Fire, or Explosive)

Only one element made Borderlands even remotely playable (and even actually enjoyable...)

Split screen multiplayer.

Fire.

My FireFly Siren build loved the sound of the screaming bandits.

Actually the Lance have the best screams...

*reminisces* ah.....

Loved how Lilith, with the right build, could clear a room without firing a shot. She was like a human hand grenade.

I remember playing it with a fiery sniper rifle. I'm a sucker for sniping so I went with the bird guy (i have no clue whatsoever as regards to his name).

Shame really, I liked borderlands but I recall being far more excited about it when it wasn't realesed yet. If i'm not mistaken there were some trailers before release date showing off the game, where it was with genuine graphics, not the cartoon style of game that we know now. I don't really think this game fits that graphics style all that well. Its not bad really, it's just that the style doesn't correspond with the game from my perspective. I'd much rather have some sci-fi high fidelity graphic emphasis. I guess it's personal taste.

I use whatever suits the situation. though i always kept a vanilla weapon or two so that i can deal with all enemies and not find myself against an enemy with an immunity to my elements.

Slag.

I'm British, the name amuses me.
Yet Hasbro changed the name of Slag the (stegosaurus dinobot) to Slug for that same reason in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (If not sooner.)
Well I guess this game is gonna be rated M though.

Edit: Lightning it's looks so much rarer in games than fire as a projectile.

Acid on my guns. I loved watching the enemies slowly disolve while screaming and if you get rushed in an enclosed area by a bunch of badass Skags the acid made short work of them. I prefered fire on my grenades. I forgot the name but tossing the one that split up into multiple grenades on impact with fire on it was a beautiful thing.

Mordecai, Yes they did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSvTqfmv3DE I don't recall the reason for the switch though. I was a little dishearted by the change at first too, but now I find it hard to imagine seeing it the other way for comedic purposes at least.

Captha: always there (no it wasn't)

I dont know i feel that the cartoony graphic style has done it a disservice. I for one could have been far more engaged with the characters and quests if they had a more realistic approach to them. Maybe its for the best. At least now I didn't get all that disappointed with the ending because I wasn't that into the story. What story, anyway? I mean come on xD

It had more potential than they realized.

Well, without Mordecai's abillity to have a 100% chance to ignore shields, do I feel quite naked without a Revolver with 4x Electricity effect and about 600+ Damage. My favorite effect is problaby Acid, because It can be devestating when a Enemy has no shield, but I think I'm still gonna throw my vote to Electricity, because of It's usefullness.

I love electric too. It's pretty much the only element I have sued so I might be missing out though...

I voted for Fire.

I managed to somehow score a x3 Fire SMG in the very first chest that I opened with Lilith, and stuck with Fire-based SMGs since then (except boss fights, in which I'd bust out a Double Anarchy).

The number of enemies that my fire-based SMGs were ineffective against seemed somewhat insignificant, but whenever they did show their faces, I'd keep a Corrosive SMG and my trusty Double Anarchy as backups.

Across all of my characters, I think Shock was probably my least-used element. With Mordecai I was able to either outright bypass shields or I was using hilarious Masher-style revolvers that demolish pretty much anything anyway regardless of defenses. With Lilith my high rate-of-fire SMGs, regardless of their element (if elemental at all), shredded shields in the blink of an eye anyway. With Roland I'd set his turret to be Shock, then never bothered with Shock-based weapons. And with Brick, well, what's the point of using anything other than explosive?
