So, which of the following Fallout protagonists do you like most and why?
I'm abit torn between the Lone Wanderer and the Courier.
The Lone Wanderer has his own in-depth background, family, and storyline if you count his main quest in Fallout 3. Which sort of cuts down on his customization abit. But it does give the feel that you're playing an integral role in the Fallout uinverse as a character and as the protagonist. Though it's logical to suspect that Bethesta has an idea for a canon Lone Wanderer, just as there was a canon Vault Dweller. And since the Main Quest is essentially taking a good guy route (with afew twists of evil left open), it's easy to suspect that the Lone Wanderer canonally takes the Good Karma route, but it remains a mystery as of how successful he took that route (I.E, if he did the Wasteland Survival Guide and helped Moira make it a successful), and how he canonally approached the morally-grey issues regarding The Pitt if that expansion is to be considered canon.
And I know Fallout: New Vegas hasn't come out yet, but I think the previews on it give us enough insight on the Courier to make him an option to pick on this poll. The Courier on the other hand is more customizable than the Lone Wanderer. The Courier's only known background is getting beaten up by thugs and left for dead with his package stolen. How the Courier got his job in the first place and why he's taking it up could be any number of reasons, leaving you to fill in the blanks yourself. And from what I've gathered there's nothing in his Main Quest that will make you obligated to follow it to add more content, unlike the Lone Wanderer, where you'd have to complete a certain amount of the main quest to gain Power Armor training and have the Enclave coming around.
I find the Lone Wanderer to be the sort of character to go for if you want to play Fallout 3 with wanting the feel that you're playing an important role, while the Courier is the character you want with Fallout New Vegas to be able to create your own post-apocolyptic experiance in your image with barely anything holding you back. See what I mean?
