Poll: Favorite game out of best eight ever?

Good God, what an awful list.

On games I've even played out of those, I'd have to say Super Mario Galaxy even though it pains me. But on strength of what other people have said about its awesomeness, I suppose I'd have to go with Ocarina.

Awful, awful list.

The moral of this after school special: Stay away from metareview sites, kids! You might catch something formulaic!

On the list, I'd say Uncharted 2. I haven't played all of them, but I'd say Uncharted 2 is MY second personal favorite game (and I don't even own a PS3). If we were going Metacritic top 10, Bioshock, HL2, and Out of the Park Baseball 2007 (???) would be up there. Uncharted 2 would still be there, along with a the Galaxies and GTA1V (and III). I like Metacritic's list more. Not just because it has HL2 on it, but because it seems more fair with reviews coming from more places. Oh, and because Out of the Park Baseball 2007 is on it, and that's funny.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, the Orange Box would be up there too. There you go, people who keep asking "Where's Portal?"

None of mine were in there (Red Dead Redemption, Resident Evil 4, Mass Effect 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Half Life 2). This makes me a sad panda.

For some reason it really annoyed me that the two Mario galaxies where there. They are just too similar for it to be allowed.

I had to go with Zelda, it isn?t even my favourite out of the series though.

These eight games garnered the best reviews out of any others, but the point is to find out which one gamers appreciate the most. Is there a divide between gamers and critics? I guess that's kinda the point of this poll.

Anyway, I'm not telling you the rankings of each game on the list cause that would skew results. And before someone thinks "Hey, he may just put them on the poll in order!"... they're in alphabetical. Trying my best to avoid affecting the results.

Oh, and feel free to talk about games that you think aren't even deserving of being one of the eight best reviewed games ever (again, according to GameRankings), that's what a comments section is for after all.

I never played god of war 1 or 2, I just found out the entire story of god of war 1 and 2 because I was holding out for the biggie. Good news is that holding out for the biggie worked fine when God of War 3 was announced and I got right into it. I thought God of War 3 was an explosive high budget masterpiece of unparalleled scale and technical prowess. God of War 1 looks great, and don't think I am a graphics whore, far from it. I just ordered Earth Defence Force only this morning. Its just that when I see older god of wars I know I would feel it was held back by its low production value in comparison to God of War 3. And I find your comment a little hypocritical considering you are obviously prefer God of War 1 because you played it first and feel the third is just trying to look as pretty as possible just to trick stupid people into buying it. God of War 3 might not have such a thoughtful and delicate story but it does include you fighting a God while riding atop a titan half way up the largest mountain in the world amidst a war between powerful deities.

Also MY judgement? Eff you buddy. My judgement is fine thank you very much. Last I checked its everybody else in the world who are bloody insane.

Tekken 3 and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time are the only games that are even worthy of that list the rest are just *in my opinion, (I like Soul Calibur 2 and 4)* are crap.

I've barely played any of these games, I've maybe played SoulCalibur or Tekken 3 so I voted for SoulCalibur.

Really, I just chose OoT because it is the lesser evil. It's not bad, it's just not "best." That being said, I've only played the first two and I wasn't too happy with GTA4.

Do you mean Metroid Prime on the Game Cube or the SNES? I've played the Game Cube version and it was lame.

XBLA Soul Calibur was a bare-bones arcade port, hence why it sucked. The Dreamcast version was by far better though as it had a story mode to play through much like number 2

I believe you about the Dreamcast SoulCalibur, and about Metroid being good, I just never played either of those, that's why I made it very clear what I was talking about
I would have compared them to Jak 2, a game where dying comes more often that breathing
but people would have gone, "Well Duh, that game was really good. so these 8 could still be kind of good."
