well its not up there...but i love me some good TPS, it usually involves way more patience and strategy, so each kill is much more satisfying to me

although for the sake of this poll, rpg for sure, bioware has my heart

RPG and Turn Based Strategy, the thinking man's genres.
Don't go killing the genre by saying that TBS is for thinking people.

Don't worry folks, even if your IQ is lower than 130 you can play TBS as well. It's not an elitist genre. Honest. In fact it is less elitist than a lot of high end RTS games.

I like RPGs that are ALSO FPSs. Although mainly just FPSs are good for me. Some of them (dead space *sorry, that's a TPS, never mind*) actually manage to have an intriguing plot and not JUST painful, pointless murder. Others (Far Cry 2) fail epically in this department.

Although no matter what genre, I will like any truly good game.

Also most games fall into more than one category, so that confuses the issue to the point where blunt force trauma feels soothing as opposed to deciding what genre a game actually is.

Of all genres, Metroidvania, come to think of it. I love the adventure-game style exploration and item-finding along with the trill of side-scrolling combat with said items, not to mention using said items to explore further. Other favorites are (action-)adventure, side-scrollers, RPG's (Japanese or western, some preference to the former), and some FPS's (i.e no interest in Resistance, find Halo fun, love Half Life 2), with me getting into SRPG's thanks to Valkyria Chronicles and Fire Emblem, and the possibility of me being a stealth fan.

Basically, my current enjoyment of God of War is a very unusual occurrence.

Had to go with RPG from your list, though FPS is fun. Sad there were no listings for Platformers or Action/Adventure games.

You can play chess against someone who is bad at chess and it isn't that hard.

Also there are plenty of turn based games that are simpler than chess.

I stupidly chose FPS because when I saw RPG I immediately thought JRPG which I used to love and now don't care for so much, but actually my current favourite genre would be WRPG (Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3) so yeah RPG

All genres definately have their pros, but my favorite gotta be RPG. The massive game universes that are present in good RPGs show great creativity and are fun and interesting to explore. And the fact that they are sandboxes is fun too.

Probably RPGs. I loves me a good long game with a nice narrative.
