Poll: favorite hack and slash game

I haven't played any of these...yet. I do have the God of War HD collection now, and will try them after I finish Heavy Rain and Alpha Protocol.

I have trouble choosing between the first Devil May Cry games and the God of War series. God of war wins on sheer but still premeditated brutality, but Devil May Cry has guns with infinite ammo and wine-red leather coats. Tricky choice...

Not only are you a ninja, but it's hardest difficulty actually gave me a bit of a challenge, and I can't say the same for any other of the popular hack n slashers.

I came into this thinking you meant hack n' slash as in dungeon crawlers. I was somewhat disappointed but I picked Bayonetta. It was a masterpiece IMO.

Should COD really count? I mean, it's more of a "shoot and occasionally slash when you get too close/run out of ammo" but I guess you could call it hack n' slash....

I voted for Devil May Cry series since I played DMC 3 and 4 on PC and don't own a console.

If I did own a PS3 for example I would of chosen Bayonetta or God of War 3.

i dislike hacknslash games, due to their repetitive gameplay... i remember games like Sacred, Dungeon Siege 2, or Diablo, that had some sort of plot, but still it was just an excuse for some heavy blowout, yes it was fun, but when it's all the same, after a while it gets tiresome.

What if never played any of those games? I don't like hack and slash much. unless, wait, is Diablo 2 hack and slash? shouldn't it be?
