Well for off-line mutiplayer, even when I play online its round someone else's house so there at least two of us online, either time-splitters or super smash bros melee/brawl

Goldeneye...

There is no better thrill than beating 3 of your friends in a split screen death match with the RCP-90 and a swift karate chop to the jugular...

Halo, just because the forge feature is so user-friendly, and it allows me to avoid the whole "8-year-olds-calling-each-other-noobs-and-the-40-year-old-creepers-that-like-them" online matchmaking and head straight to making custom games where I only invite friends and friends of friends.

On the List: TF2 is better than them all. I find the fact that shadowrun is on the list a little disturbing. It had a great concept, and some nice features, but just didn't pull through as a great game to me. Probably because of Games for Windows Live. That was such a hassle to get working.

On a related note: Either Counter-Strike, or if mods were to count, Insurgency.

For console games it's gotta be Halo 3, for forge, or CoD 4/WaW, because of the rank system thing.

For PC it's Garry's Mod. No explanation needed.
