Trend suggests that Pokémon games got progressively worse and then better. But if you take into account that a lot of these votes for the earlier titles will be based on childhood nostalgia, then it might look a little different.

I loved S/G and HG/SS. I felt like they had the best thing with 2 regions and a great selection of pokemon and I was super annoyed they didn't continue with the multiple region thing.

But I love Black I love all the mechanics and how pretty it is. I love the fact that all the pokemon are new it really creates the same sense of wonder as when I played R/B for the first time.

I think either G/S/C or B/W
I'm playing through White right now and the last time I had this much fun with a Pokemon game was when I first started playing Silver on my purple see-through Game Boy Color

Black / White for the very good story, stunning presentation and overall great new Pokemon. Followed very closely by HG/SS for the great combination of nostalgia with new comfort, epic quest over 16 gyms, an insanely tough last battle and the cute feature of seeing you with your Pokemon walking around.

I recently played Yellow on a Super Game Boy and... man. How "lame" the new editions might be to some, actually knowing the exact stats of an attack or having as many items as you want isnt something to overlook. They are still groundbreaking for their systems, but I realy got used for the more transparent and comfortable new games.

I'll have to say that Red is my favorite Pokemon game. The second Pokemon game I had, but the first one I seriously played through. Oh, how I loved my Charizard in it...

I like all of them, I actually had to think about that question for a bit, I guess it would have to be Silver/Gold/Crystal if I had to choose. I like the pokemon there and the region is pretty cool.

Black and White are a close second though.

The latest one.
I mean who the fuck would choose the first one over it? I mean it looks like shit.

Working on White right now, but I'd probably say SoulSilver since there is so much to actually do in the game...

The second generation had the most to do. I can't believe no other games have had revisits to old regions. In terms of stuff to do post Elite Four 2nd gen is number one.

However I think that the third gen has had some of the best new pokemon. I <3 Flygon.

I like SoulSilver most, it has all the awesomeness of the Silver game, with the 16 badges, repeatable Elite 4 and amazing starters, with all the bonuses of the newer game engines. And above all, your team follows you.

My favourite Poke'mon game is still the good old rail style "poke'mon snap" me and my friends still have hours of fun trying to get the best score. loser takes a shot winner takes the pot... of money that is... the only problem is that only one of us has the game. so guess who gets all the practice...
oh man, I used to love that game!

I often regret selling my old N64.

For me, it's

HG/SS
R/S/E (Only because of the battle frontier in emerald)
R/B/Y
G/S/C
B/W
Colosseum/XD (Don't know if these count, but if they do, they go here)
FR/LG
D/P/Pt (I didn't really like this one at all)

Pokemon Gold for me, its the Pokemon game that I have spent the most time on. Two regions? Hell yes.
