Which Rocky movie is your favorite and why?

Personally my favorite is 4. Drago was such a beast and you saw the look in Rocky's face when Drago killed Apollo. Plus it had awesome music and montages!

Definitely going with the original. And let's just not talk about Rocky 5 either...

I think the first four were the best, all of equal quality. If I HAD to pick one, though, I'd probably go for "Rocky IV", mainly because of the whole East/West thing they had going on with the Russian, strong and silent tank Drago, Apollo's shocking death that both emphasized Rocky's friendship with him and built up his eventual revenge-duel with Drago, and the simply -orgasmic- music that went along with the montages.

"Rocky V" was still a relatively good film, but I didn't find the premise that great and how it basically took him right back to where he started. "Rocky Balboa" went ridiculously too far, and it just felt like a formulaic slog to get through. I wouldn't watch it again.

Point being? And in "Rocky II", Apollo was pissed that people were still treating it as if Rocky won, which was the reason for their rematch. That's pretty much the trend of the "Rocky" films: the underdog, due to his determination and endurance, wins against all odds. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think I recall, in "Rocky IV", he only won because he managed to cut Drago's eye or something, and lucky shots like that happen all the time in real boxing matches.

To be honest, "Rocky IV" is both the first "Rocky" film I've watched and the one that I've watched the most times, because they always play it on ITV4. Later, when I got the boxset, I went through them in marathon, which may be why "Rocky IV" seems to stick out as my favourite, -if- I had to pick one.

Now this is a topic I can get on board with!

I love all the Rocky films (except you, V) and my favourite has changed quite a few times. But I'll say Rocky II!
Sure the first film is probably the best, but there's just something I love about II that I can't explain.
