Damn Yankees. The Mariners deserved to win that World Series in 2001, Even with the 9/11 tragedy, we were the superior team, but that's the way of baseball... :(

I love football. American, not that other game. I was an offensive lineman(and a damn good one), I currently coach that position as a volunteer(until I get my teaching certificate, then it'll be my job). My favorite team is and has always been the New Orleans Saints, so basically I pulled for a loser my entire life until about six years ago. Conversely, almost every team I ever played for was a winner. I got to play in four state championship games in three sports(1 football, 1 basketball, 2 baseball), losing all four. Let me tell you, that is one of the most awful and hollow feelings out there. And I know that feeling better than just about anybody(Jim Kelly aside). Sorry for the life story. Guess I opened the floodgates on that one.
I was an Offensive lineman too, and I was pretty good too, I was so strong back in high school, I broke three ribs on a guy while pass blocking during one game (Just from the force I hit him with, I wasn't playing dirty. Although I did used to headbutt people as I fired out, but that's just what you did on the line). We were one game away from the Washington State championship game and lost a really tight game, so I know know that feeling, I've never seen so many tough guys cry in my life.

I chose Football not knowing if you meant American football or Aussie rules or whatever, but that's cool because those two are my favourite sports to play and watch anyway.

I'd love if people got over the whole hating another sport because because it shares a name with something completely different somewhere completely different. Once I decided that I was going to stop being a retard and actually give Gridiron a chance I found I loved it and started playing. Made starting running back for my local team too.

I could never get into soccer. I tried, I really did. It's just to soft and ridiculous for me.

My favourite American football team is the New England Patriots. Since I'm not American I have no local team, I just chose them more or less at random. I became very attached to them though and I would love to see them win on Feb 5.

Favourite AFL team is the West Coast Eagles. I support them because they are the local team.

Nooooo, that was so meant to be the Yankees win! There was the 9/11 angle, Jeter made "The Play" during the ALDS, there was that electric atmosphere ("No game six!" Lou Pinella had vowed a comeback win in the ALCS which meant a game 6 would have been in Seattle. But the crowed. My God, I had chills watching it on TV). Then there was the World Series, which had the Yankees winning a few come-from-behind games (after Byun Hyung Kim blew some saves for the Diamondbacks). It was also Paul O'Neill's last series before he retired. It seemed absolutely meant.

God, I was a superstitious mess during that series. I honestly made myself freeze in place whenever something good happened for the Yanks. Didn't wanna ruin the good vibes. But that freakin' bloop single...

To watch - soccer/football
To play - badminton. But since there is no badminton option then I'll go football soccer.

Though two things I'd like to say about the poll. If you want to call football "soccer" fine, but at least list American football as Football (NFL). It is a little confusing to those of us who call football football and live where american football is a niche sport.

Second (and this one may well just be me), but I assume hockey means Ice Hockey rather than field hockey. I used to play hockey (real hockey....on grass and all), so just left the option alone. I always enjoy talking about sports as it really highlights cultural differences.

I can remember listening to the series on the radio (we didn't have a TV back then), and being absolutely devastated when we lost. Its kind of funny that like the team we tied with for the most wins, the 1906 Cubs, neither of the teams won the World Series despite having two of the best records ever.

Basketball; more specifically NBA. Unfortunately the free-to-air digital sports channel in Australia, One HD, no longer televises NBA, and I'm not getting a pay TV subscription for one sport.

Favorite sport? Karate.
Other favorite sport? Handball.

Favorite sport of those suggested there? Football. Manchester United being my favorite team, hooray for comebacks!

I'm with this bloke. Rugby is by far my favourite sport; it's fun to watch and I can play to some degree but not enough to actually make a hobby of it.

I'd say soccer...
Except there's no such sport.

It's called Football. Harumph.
Aww, come on, cut me some slack, its the time of the day that many American are up including myself (although I'm always up it seems), and we call it soccer. To be honest, I would prefer we call American football Gridiron but there's not a ton of support for that.
[HEADING=2]I will never ever cut anyone slack for calling football "soccer"!![/HEADING]

[HEADING=3]Raaaaaargh![/HEADING]
[sub]Huh. For some reason, I didn't get a message when you quoted me. Strange.[/sub]
Thats because I fucked up the quote by accidentally deleting the last ] and had to go back and edit it, if you have to fix it through the edit function, it doesn't send the message.

Like I said, I totally get your objection, but I was just going with what I call it. Also, for all you who call it handegg, I find it somewhat insulting, as it is meant more to mock the sport, that to give it an appropriate name.
I thought I was making it clear that my reaction was supposed to be a joke with the ridiculous font size and stock image...

It's just a pet peevee; not something that holds any significance.

My favorite sport to watch is basketball, it's just so much fun to watch but sadly my New York Knicks are doing shit. I just noticed that all the teams I like suck :/

My favorite sport to play is bowling, Yes I consider it a sport and I am actually good at it. I used to hate it but it grows on you XD

Field Hockey. I loved playing it until I gave up because I really hated my team. I got busy and didn't join another one. I might join next season. Or more likely join the summer hockey as thats more social. Sucks I need to wait a whole year. I don't really watch it on TV though. It's rarely on. I don't watch much TV so I mostly miss it anyway. Though if I find it on I normal watch it.

Favorite team: Hockeyroos. It's the Australia women's national team. I have seen them player more then the Kookaburras which is the Australia mens national team. Also it's a better name for a team. I guess Im shallow.

As it's a team game I don't have a favorite player. They all do their part. Go goalie I guess. They do some really good saves though the forwards can get some really good goals.

My favorite position: Right Wing. Im a fast runner and it's so fun to leave the other team behind on a fast break. Any forword position is good if I can't get that.

I play badminton because I love the level of technique and deception you can play with. I have a general fondness for most sports, but soccer stands out to me...because things like this happen.

Seriously, it's like sporting art.

You forgot to add "Competitive Gladiatorial Blood Sport" to the list. If there are no Christians getting eaten by lions I'm not interested. (As long as I'm not the Christian getting eaten.)

You guys do realize that modern arena sports are just an evolution of the Romans throwing minorities in a pit to watch them kill each other, right?

Football, by which I mean proper football and not American Rugby (though I did play along and vote soccer >.>). Big Man U fan. :) Going to be a very tight title race this year, will be humiliating if City win it, though I suppose with the influx of funds and resources now at there disposable I begrudgingly admit that it's pretty inexorable they're going to clinch a PL title at some point, I just hope it isn't some time soon.
And how far from Trafford do you live?! =P

Agreed on the question... don't mind playing, so long as I'm not in the pack. League or Union? (Union guy personally... SARRIES!!)

OT: Can't decide, I watch/follow football (proper football, played using the extremities on the end of one's legs, you know, one's feet...), cricket, tennis, rugby and F1 (more because my sister goes oooooon and oooooooon about it). Playing-wise, used to with archery, football & cricket, though these days, just Thai boxing if my knees don't pack up... -_-

I prefer combat sports like Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA ect... However I guess they're not as popular or up there as most ball sports. I didn't see a option for them or an option for other sports so I just went with Football(British).
