Soldier is next but I can never directly hit anybody.
(side note, how do you use the demo somewhat effectively? Little ammo and crap weapons, well the primary is ok but I don't get many kills with it)
Since the Demo is a defensive class you want to use the sticky bombs almost all the time to keep others from gaining access to whatever you're protecting. Use the normal grenade launcher for personal defense only.
Hope that helped.
The only problem is, you have to babysit them and keep an eye on them, which is when a spy likes to give his arm a rest by letting my back hold his knife for awhile.
Swear to god, I have died more times to spies than all the other classes combined, I have killed a good number but comon!
Actually you don't have to baby them if you don't want to:
- You can use stickies to set up a safe retreat. Place them in areas like a building entrance so that if you see a few enemies coming at you when you enter you can back away and lead them into the trap.
- Set them up in important places (in the intel room, around control points, etc). When the lady says something ("your intelligence has been picked up") just detonate and you'll likely get a kill. Also watch the counter that shows how many mines you have set up. If it goes down then you know theres someone there. Detonate and you might get them, or go try to kill them face to face since they've given up their location.
- Set them up around you when you're in a spot where you need to take down a sentry before moving on. When the engineer or whoever comes after you, you've got a nice trap waiting. Then finish off the sentry if you haven't already.
- Mid-air detonations. Takes some skill, but can be as effective as the grenade launcher. Plus it adds more knockback (great for making distance between a heavy and his medic)
Of course camping can be rewarding at times. My favorite thing to do is to sabotage the health and ammo pack in the intel room at 2fort. People making their trek across the map are sure to use up health and ammo so they can't resist going after those packs. I have a rude present awaiting them.
