I thought of this shortly after posting in the Favourite Bioware Party Member [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.300987-Your-favorite-Bioware-party-member] thread. There have been many great romance options in Bioware games past. For a male Hawke/Warden/Shepard/Whatever I have generally seen there as being generally two options: the sexy and confident such as Miranda, Isabela and Ashley (I guess) while you have time timid yet cute options of Merrill, Tali and Liara. I have vague but pleasant memories of romancing Liara all those years ago when I first played ME1 and it's not hard to see why people would go for the smart and sometimes awkward Tali in ME2.

So Escapist, tell me who was your favourite romance option from Bioware's many games.

NOTE: The poll is very limited so I tried my best to include the most popular romances, feel free to talk more about those I have not mentioned.

Shame upon you. You only included this generation of games. Where's Bastila from KotOR?

Well I tend to play Female Characters, but I still made Hawke hump Isabela the other night. I love her, not for the slutty pirate thing, I love her one liners and stuff. That's what draws me to choose her.

Liara T'Soni. Not very deep in the first game (actually it was weird. I didn't know if she wanted to kiss me or remove my brain for study). But it was very well done in Lair of the Shadow Broker.

I was going to type up a post of my own, but it appears that this fine gentleman has, as they say, completely and utterly ninja'd me.

So yeah, what he said.

I really liked Liara as a character in the first game. She was somewhat awkward, but not in a cliche, shy 'girly' sort of way. Instead, she was sincere, forthcoming and rather blunt. That said, the romance thing was pretty damn average. Chat-chat-flirt-declare-sex-game over. Meh.

ME2 and Lair of the Shadow Broker was a big improvement. Liara's been knocking around for a couple of years and has hardened up. She's still sweet and sincere, but she's had to cover it up with a callous exterior. I thought that made for an interesting bit of character development. Plus, I was actually impressed by the romance subplot. I felt that it gave a good impression of two people who were completely comfortable in each other's company. It also had a surprising degree of emotional kick to it, at least for me, and it left the door open to potential tragedy further down the line ("I'm always coming back"). Lastly, it helped give a bit of weight to the whole Shepard being dead for two years thing.

Morrigan, Bastila and Miranda because I like a little bark and bite in my partners, and Leliana because, well.. holyshitredheadwithasexyaccent! Seriously, get a Sacred Ashes redesigned mod for Leliana while playing Origins, and I just can't choose anyone else. One playthrough has Morrigan, one has Leliana. And I'd have it no other way..

Although if i had to pick a mass effect/dragon age game as the OP seems to not have given any other options then it'd have to be Leliana.

And if it had to be one of the limited options in the poll then Merril purely because i'm only half way through dragon age at the moment and have yet to meet isabela

Of the options, Morrigan conquers all. She seems like one of the most realistic and believable love interests that Bioware has ever created, IMO. Plus her character is actually attractive.

A lot of the others have personalities that are almost like caricatures - "I'm a huge nerd, please sex me now," "I have daddy issues, will you love me if I screw you," etc. I know those are real dimensions to people's personality, but some characters are just more plausible than the rest.
