This is kind of a follow-on from a previous thread I've made, entitled "Favourite Game Developers". People take more interest in the developers, and forget the work that the publishers do, which is getting the game to you in the first place.

I think that Microsoft Game Studios have taken a good set of publishing rights personally, including Gears Of War, Halo, and more.

Which is your favourite? Enjoy, and avoid flaming.

Valve or Turbine.

Developer publisher for the win, all the money goes where it needs to.
Doesn't Valve fall under Microsoft?

Update the Poll, please!
I'm pretty sure Microsoft is tied in with Valve...

No, no, no, no, NO.

For their console releases Valve has had a few 'partnerships' with third parties. These are characterised by not lasting very long and ending acrimoniously. For the 360 and PC Valve publish themselves, the only time they have to go through Microsoft to publish is for XBL, which is why there are so few updates for TF2 and L4D compared to the PC and also why XBL players have to pay for what they do get.

But Valve is independant.

Random fact, Valve actually approached Microsoft as potential partners when they were developing Steam. Microsoft declined, saying the idea wasn't feasible as a business plan and wouldn't even be possible for many years, bet they feel pretty stupid now with Games for Windows having to be sold through Steam. Their profits being taken away by the people they turned down, delicious justice!

Well, it's an available option. I do know Valve is independant with thier non-console releases. Which is pretty much all of thier releases.

In fact, the opposite applies, many Games for Windows are for sale through Steam, so Valve publish Microsoft.

Microsoft for handling Valve.
Valve [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valve_Corporation] is technically a game developer, and an independent one at that. Nothing to do with Microsoft (thankfully).

Valve does own Steam [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_(content_delivery)], which is my favorite publisher.

without a doubt CCP for drinking with their players and making the possession of a nerf gun a prerequisite for working at their offices. Period.
