Joss Whedon is brilliant.
Yes he is, but I miss a Doctor Horrible Sing-a-long blog up there
That's 'cause Doctor Horrible wasn't a TV show.
Anyway, it's Buffy for me, then Firefly, then Angel. (I haven't seen Dollhouse.)

For me, it's either Buffy or Angel. Whilst the highs of Buffy are much higher then the highs of Angel, the lows are much MUCH lower (*cough*Season7*cough*). Angel was more consistently good and had some of the best characterisation I've ever seen. Wesley's development from a bumbling fool to a confident man is incredible.
Eh. I maintain that of Angel's main characters, Wesley and Angel were the only ones that were consistently well-drawn and interesting; neither Gunn nor Fred had much depth until Season 5, Cordelia's characterization in the latter part of Season 3 (post-"Birthday") felt really off (and don't get me started on Season 4), and the show had an annoying tendency to under-use its interesting recurring characters (like Lindsey, Lilah, Darla, Faith, and Holland Manners). In other words, I'll see your Wesley and I'll raise you a Willow, a Buffy, a Spike, a Xander, an Anya, and a Giles.
I also maintain that Buffy S7 was in no way worse than, say, Angel S4 (or, for that matter, Angel S1). Yeah, the overall arc had some contrivances and some pacing issues -- which, since the season was very heavily arc-based, was admittedly a rather serious problem -- but it also provided, IMO, very satisfying resolutions to almost all of the main characters' own arcs, as well as to the show's central conflict, which is something not many shows can claim. Plus, it had "Selfless". And "Conversations with Dead People". And "Storyteller". And "Lies My Parents Told Me". And "Chosen".
