Was just reading this before I read your post.
Turians...well, they're a bit too lawful for me, too be honest. I admire their honor, but they don't seem very flexible in their attitudes, too rigid. Salarians are way too high-strung, but who can blame them, with their short lifespans.
In the end I picked Asari, because I'm a sucker for hot aliens. Sad but true. Krogans are badass too.

I really liked the Salarians, mostly because they were always around but you couldn't have one in your party. I mean, Garrus is the coolest ever, but you never get to know a Salarian and goddamn if I didn't want to.

The wrench wenchiness of Tali makes me like the Quarian. Also, their whole mysterious space jew thing really makes me want to know more about their culture.
That said, I like all the races, the Turians are such badass warriors, the Rachni Queen was strangely mesmerising. The Krogan were the only species I didn't find too pleasant, but I did like Wrex.

The Turians, since they remind me of the Romans so much.
Also, the Quarians since they have that Battlestar Galactica vibe to them (they built robots that turned against them, were almost wiped out, and the survivors are in a huge fleet searching for a home).
