Soft drinks are any drink without alcohol in it. I'd go with milkshakes, though they really fill you up. For more common consumption I'd go with A&W root beer or Arizona iced tea.

Soft drinks in Australia mean only fizzy drinks, or soda, or pop, or whatever you'd like to call them.

Soft drinks usually refer to sodas (pop here in Canada) - but they just mean any "drinks" that aren't alcoholic or "hard." Like hard lemonade.
