...I'm going to have to go with the Game Boy/Game Boy Color - after all, it had more Zelda titles than any other console (3), and Link's Awakening and Oracle of Seasons/Ages were really, really good. Plus, I never really liked this franchise as much once it went 3D - though Ocarina of Time was good, it seemed like the new graphical style resulted in myriad complexities that never hampered the 2D titles (and I want a manual jump, damnit).
On the flipside, while the original NES Zelda is great, the game is nonetheless a tad on the rudimentary side (it can be pretty baffling at the outset), and Zelda II was something of a letdown. Neither of these complaints can really be made of A Link to the Past, though I never understood why so many gamers feel it's better than Link's Awakening or Oracle of Ages/Seasons. I mean, more innovative, yeah - it's the first refined 2D Zelda - but better? I don't think so.
