Being a gamer isn't just something you *do*, its a state of mind. Being a gamer is about taking joy in challenging yourself just for the fun of it, and enjoying an experience that has been carefully crafted out of nothingness. Just because you aren't interested in playing games right now, doesn't mean you won't be in the future. People enjoy different things. Variety is the spice of life.

If there aren't any good books out right now, you go see a movie. That doesn't mean you stop being a reader. And it doesn't mean you sell your reading lamp, either.

Seriously... take the time out and sort of reconnect with your game life. I've gone through the same thing before.

If you only play JRPGs, you are not getting enough variety, which is why you are losing it. Play something different.

We've all been there. Don't worry, gaming will win you over again. Try playing some casual games and ease yourself back in.

Everyone has periods like this at least once. At least, I know a lot of people that do, myself included. If it passes, you'll get right back into gaming, no problem.
Yeah it happens to me too, but usually I get right back into it once they release a game I'm extremely interested in.

i kind of understand, when my wife got pregnant and i was still his boyfriend well... i felt that the better part of me was falling appart, but hey!! everything haves its cicles, if you dont want to play right now, just remember that a time will come when you will look at your games again and go "heh, i remember having fun playing this"

then you will play again and remember why you did it

and the circle will close coming to a new beggining

and you will suck less in that difficult game and you will feel that some bosses got easyer also, that lvl that was impossible to you?? well you wil find it quite easy

why?? because the gaming gods will be happy that a stray sheep returned to the flock

and we shall celebrate by drinking beer and shooting people in multiplayer

then you will leave your "magic" friends and play no more... unless it is Magic Online (wich is totaly more cool and not nerdy to play cards in your PC)

because thats the spirit of gaming.

(haha ok got carried away, you get the point)

There are defiantly points in life where the usual, and the norm change dramatically. This could include what food you like, what you like to do with friends, or even a sudden urge to travel to a location that you had previously thought as unthinkable. Best thing to do in these times, is either accept it and move on, or take a break from what you where previously doing, wait until something truly exiting comes up, and then take it and see if the spark you remember is still there.

There's just periods when there's no good games, don't let it get you down.
Just wait for Prototype to come out, everything'll be fine.

I think you need to escape from JRPGs and play some other genres or something. Playing only one genre (since most games are usually same-y) gets really old really fast personally, pick up something fresh that isn't made in japan. Get some bulging space marine shoot em up and just relax. Staying back does suck but that's life, not everyone HAS to move at the same pace. Does it really matter if they're leaving before you if you're going staying back in order to do what you would like?

I was never really a hardcore gamer either, but I did eventually just get bored of them and very rarely go on them now.

Yeah I've had moments where I didn't play games for weeks. It's nothing to worry about. After a while you'll get an itch to pick up a game again. Maybe an old game you have good memories of, or the urge to get a new game when you see an awesome trailer. My will to game got shocked back to life during October last year, when there was a rediculous spree of new games. It died a bit before Christmas, but then I picked up WoW again (after years or doing nothing with it). I'm still addicted to it now, haha.

I get that way sometimes when I spend too much time with a particular activity. Try doing something un-gamey. Paint, sculpt, or read an engrossing book series like Discworld or Harry Potter.

I realize it was just a typo, but it's fun to tease you a little bit ;)

Set down the controller and begin to meditate.... look deep within yourself, so deep that the world fades away. In the quiet silence of your own soul search for your true essence and self. Then ask yourself... "what do I see?" If a little voice tells you to move on, then go and never look back, if it tells you to Level and fight the boss again, then go. If it tells you to "pwn some noobs" then find a new voice... Or perhaps that voice will tell you to try a new genera... perhaps...

I went through this, didn't touch a game in two years. Then I realised they were the only way I could escape the everyday pressures of life.

God I love games...
