(Story found here [http://abcnews.go.com/US/connecticut-babysitter-accused-sexually-assaulting-14-year-boy/story?id=14238187] if you wanna read it)

The article is pretty skimpy on the details, but the gist of it is that there's a 20-year old babysitter who was charged with sexual assault of a 14-year old boy she babysat. She allegedly got him drunk before sleeping with him, and legally, that makes it sexual assault (because she intoxicated someone with the purpose of clouding their mental judgement before seducing them). She's facing jail time, but her lawyer says that she needs rehab instead.

The events aren't explained in detail, but honestly, I don't feel like she should be in jail (even though "sex rehab" is a load of bullocks). Part of it is that while 14 is too young to have sex with an adult imo, the age gap between her and the guy is only 6 years or so.

The main reason I don't take this seriously though, and I really don't want to admit it; is that she's an attractive young female as opposed to the stereotypical sex offender. All hate for double standards aside, would you really send this woman to jail for getting a teen drunk and having sex with him?

I honestly don't know whether to have contempt for this girl, or to make a stupid joke about the kid being a hero. What do you guys think?

[HEADING=1] BIG, NOTICEABLE EDIT: [/HEADING]

Another site said they were in a sexual relationship for several months, and his mom was the one who reported her. This almost definitely means that she didn't use the alcohol to force him into sex, and that they were both consenting. Many people would still find this wrong, but a lot of you were confused whether or not the sex was forced. Also worth mentioning is that the relationship started when he was 14 and she was 19, so it's more of a 5 year-ish difference.

Sorry that I didn't have the full story when I made the topic. My bad...

Go directly to jail[footnote]After the trial, of course[/footnote]. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Bonus of sex offender registry from community chest.

This is what a fourteen year old boy looks like (Not the one from this case, from another):

Do you honestly think 20 year olds of any sex should be fucking that?

Look at it like this.

What if it was a 20 year old male babysitter who got a 14 year old girl drunk and slept with her?

That's right people would be screaming for blood.

But seriously why is this even up for debate?

Jail is overkill imo, she should just get a bit of help and go meet some boys her own age.
Honestly, the shame of screwing a 14 year old will probably follow her for a while.

While six years in teenagers is a huge difference, hot damn, kid caught a cougar. Or the cougar caught him. And mauled him. [sub]she did get him drunk first...[/sub]

Did the boy or his parents report her?
Did the boy want to report her at all?

That makes all the difference in the world to me.

Remember back when there was another case of female teachers having sex with male students coming out every other week? As horrible as it was, the test for guilty or not guilty really did come down to, is she hot or not? Some sort of double standard 'Can't rape the willing' thing. Which, unfortunately, makes perfect sense to me.

If the kid really is pressing charges himself, then, well, ya, rape is rape. But from the sounds of it, it isn't the kid pressing charges.

The story just has weird all over it though, so I can't really form a proper opinion on it. However, I did vote that she should be executed. Mostly for making that stupid duckface while taking a picture of herself in front of a mirror, I mean, come on...people still do that?

All "Where was she when I was 14" aside... I have to agree here. It is a crime, the gender and attractiveness doesn't change anything. She manipulated a minor and had sex with him. Soooo, fuck her and the horse she rode in on. Off to trial.

Hard to believe a girl like that would have to stoop to intoxicating minors for sex. Quite sad.

[sub]Perhaps it's high time I start hiring for a babysitter...[/sub]

OT: In all seriousness, she is over 18 and he is not. That makes her an adult having sex with a minor, which is a crime, if I recall correctly.

This, too. Needing a babysitter at 14 seems rather strange.

Dumb *****. She's not even terrible-looking, I'm pretty sure she could've gotten someone her age if she'd wanted to.

Anywho, jail'd be fine with me, but hell, execution's a bit far.

While I have no problem with underage sexual encounters between individuals (as long as it is wholly consensual with absolutely no coercion), there has to be a certain age limit to which this should be allowed, eg. A 20 year old woman/guy with a 14 year old girl/boy or vice verse compared to a 40 year old Guy/Girl with a 14 year old Guy/Girl. Personally I do not feel that any harm would come with an age gap of 6 years (progressively narrowing the gap the younger the people get) but I draw a hard line made of bricks and mortar when it comes to someone drugging a person to cognitively compromise them making it easier to coerce them, or to coerce them in general.

So in the end I feel that unless she did the boy any physical harm or caused extensive cognitive trauma, she should receive a (high) fine and community service.

Depends, if the genders were reversed would you think the same thing?

That's also what I was thinking, and this is the part of the article that led me to believe that it's the parents, and not the kid:
"It's very difficult for a 14-year-old boy to make decisions about sex and the decision shouldn't be imposed on him by someone who is significantly older," Real said.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that sounds to me like the kid made a decision, that everybody else is telling him was the wrong one.

Well, good thing all 14 year old boys are automatically straight and crave sex.
She should be punished equally for her crime just as anyone else would have. Being attractive?! Really? How shallow are you that you think that should get her out of trouble?

Stop right there. Everyone has differing opinions on what they find attractive so this boy might not have found her attractive. And even if he did he still gets to refuse to have sex with her and she has to respect that.

I honestly don't know. Not because it's female on male but because I have no idea where the age of consent/adulthood should be.

Oh wait she got him drunk?

That's different.

Not sure what the punishment should be but we shouldn't let her off easy because she's an attractive woman and the victim's a man.

Well...
Did she get him drunk or did they drink together?
