Does it matter? I game. I'm a girl. I am tired of hearing from women obssessed over whether they are fitting in with some pre-determined measure of "femininity". Why try to define it? Why not ask "are you happy with the person you are"?
Amen and hallelujah sister!

I'm female and am quite feminine. To me that means I'm happy with my gender and wouldn't want it any other way.

i like both honestly. I conceal and carry a Sig Sauer P228 non rail variant, and used to have a Glock 17C i customized and shot for competition shooting, i also have a Remington 700 LTR with a SWFA SS 10x42 mil dot scope with anti reflection device chambered in .308. Right now im looking into possible picking up another Glock, maybe a 19 for CCW or possibly, because im INSANE, a Glock 21/22 with a Guncrafters .50GI conversion kit.
Sig Sauer P228, huh? That's he same gun carried by police officers over here (Sweden) along wih he P226. Supposedly they seem to like it since it has stayed in service for quite a few years now.

Sadly hailing from the country that I do, owning firearms is a lot more difficult than it is in other parts of the world, with all the gun restrictions... Which would have been fine in my opinion (I mean, you should have some serious responsibilities if you are to own a weapon), if it wasn't for the fact that the government and the paranoid people in general are blatant firearm-haters.

Every years the higher ups seem to try and pull off some kind of stunt to further limit the rights for hunters and hobby marksmen. In fact it was only until pretty recently that hunters were allowed to fit sound suppressors to their rifles (because the paranoid government had of course assumed that anyone using a suppressor is an assassin in the making just waiting to the opportunity to kill people from a rooftop). The only viable reason it was granted was because the public healthcare probably had to fork out some serious amounts of money due to the many cases of hearing impairmen that hunters started to suffer in their latter years, and thus (probably more in the interest of saving money than actually provide gun owners with some liberties) suppressors were allowed.

Besides all those i used to have a suppresed Remington 341 .22LR, scoped with a 10x30 scope that i used to plinking, and/or possible assassination attempts >.> maybe. >.> dont judge me. xD
Hehe, I'll judge you so far that it's the kind of gun I'd choose myself for any assassination attempt, as long as I don't expect the target to be sitting in a car or something like that. >:)

to the actual question, i note a lot that its easier for a woman to have masculine tendencies than it is for a man to have feminine tendencies, and this is all just a product of society and how youre "supposed" to be, whether or not you agree to these things, or try to fit into them should seem irrelevant to who you are as a person rather than to how society should see you.
Yes it should, but since pretty much everyone is forcefed the idea of how people are "supposed" to be during their most impresionable and insecure periods of their lives, certain discomfort suffered by some people is to be expected if they try to be themselves without a more socially acceptable mask on.

The only positive thing I can think of is the fact that people who do take that struggle head on usually come out as stronger, less socially needy and more confident individuals than they were before. Although plenty of those people also stumble and fall as well, which is a shame.

I'd rather prefer a society where notions of how people are "supposed" to be are largely eliminated.

Viva la pink, and it's time for me to replace the fuzzy bunny stickers on my DS, because they're wearing off, and to figure out a way to cutesy up my 360, because it is very not cute and so not my style right now--maybe some large, flower stickers or something. XD
Do what you will with the DS but I implore you leave the 360 alone! Unless it's a white one then have at it. If it's an Elite it's too beastly to deface with flower stickers!

OT: I'm wondering how this has any relevance when you're behind a computer or tv screen. Generally who you are in the outside world has nothing to do with being a gamer. I'd consider myself quite a masculine guy but online that doesn't actually equate to anything.

Well, considering my PS3 came decorated (I've got one of the Cloud Black ones), so the 360 is sad and lonely and undecorated. I could always go with giant Stitch stickers, like I did my laptop. XD It depends on what I find next time I go sticker-hunting.

Pretty much agreed--nearly everyone I know in real life is utterly shocked to find out I game because I'm so, well, girly, but I'm baffled as to why it's such a shock, or why any of this matters when you're doing your hobby.

Although it does matter places like xbox live--I won't even hook my 360 up to it because I don't like multiplayer anyway (I game to get AWAY from people), and the thought of what would happen if some immature punks heard my very feminine voice come out over the headphones makes my blood run cold.

Nah, what you just described is girlishness. Femininity is, well, er, its um, I can't really come up with a robust objective description, but its that thing women do that slashes my IQ in half and makes me do things like a mindless puppet. Not to sound bitter, its really quite brilliant-wish I could do it.

Ooh-one example of femininity - that smile women do where you can't quite tell if they think you're great or are merely taking the piss out of you-that's a good 'un.
As a guy, I find that masculinity does the same thing.

In my travels I've found that there are two types of female gamers.

The gamer girl and the girl gamer.

The gamer girl seems to think its necessary to point out her gender, and constantly references it. She is obnoxious and annoying.

The girl gamer is just a gamer who happens to be a girl. Thats it.

For more details on the subject, consult nubers 9 and 10 on the following chart.
That, sir, is a very good summation of, well, all gamers! Thank you. I was gradualy getting irritated at this thread, and I think you have summed up why.

I would like to be a girl gamer. I actively try not to be a gamer girl. And femininity does not come into it when I game. Nuff said :)
I'm not sure I got what the RPfag was though.
