Yes you did do the thing..idiots like that need a good punch across the face. You should have went for the nose.
No, go for the throat! Sure, it might collapse his trachea and make it impossible to breathe, but he would have learned his lesson!

Actually, elbow to the temple (right above and to the side of your eyes) is a good way to KO somebody.

I think you did the right thing. Hopefully they learned that they shouldn't just screw with people like that. [sub]I hate people like that[/sub]

I voted no, because they survived to run off. :p

Just kidding. You absolutely did the right thing IMO. Bullying of any kind is despicable and it sounds like everyone involved was old enough to not be able to blame it on TV or whatever, so they fully had it coming to them. The friends of yours who said "It wasn't your place" are cowards, end of story. If you'd simply let it go by just because you weren't an "authority figure" or a family member, then you would have no right to ever call that kid your friend again.

Morally, in my mind, you did the right thing, and in Australia, according to your account you did the right thing legally too.

You only used the necissary force required to prevent a crime (being the Assault, Battery, Harrassment, and Hate/Predujice related beating).

I applaud your efforts and would have clapped for you in person if I'd seen it.

Well done, welcome to the Escapist, don't look in the Basement.

Swearing isn't an offence here either, just flaming, trolling etc.

Enjoy your stay.

You'll find out if you did the right thing in the next few days. The bullies will either back off, or bully harder when you're not there to defend him.

Personally, I wouldn't have gone that route. Violence isn't solved with violence.

In short: Yes they deserved to get hurt, and maybe what you did will bring your friend some peace.

Not as short: They might now want to get revenge on your friend, and for that he might get it dished back 10 times as bad. Not just verbally either.

With bullying you really can't win, to go far enough to make someone stop you risk losing your life. Don't go far enough and your life sucks. Look on the bright side in a few years you will be in college and at least where i'm from people there are tolerant.

Unless there is an absolute need, I'd prefer not to
That's cool.

I tend to put them in when that's my first thought when I read a post. Or as a warning for a rant. Or in rants. We've only got so many danm words in the english language, might as well use 'em all! (textual cookie for whoever gets that para-quote (har har, instead of paraphrase!!!))

I'm sorry for your loss, he must have appreciated what you did for him.

You did the right thing. Bullies deserve to be punch, kicked, and absolutely beat down. Assholes. Just the other week some one my mom was close to (a kid she coached) killed herself over bullies. Not mcuh is worse than some one like that. Way to go, stop that shit before it really take hold.

Despite what society will tell you, nothing worthwhile ever gets accomplished without violence. Fight back.

He probably wasn't tough at all and was just making fun of others to feel good about his self.
I think you did the right thing.

You did the right thing, bullying someone for being gay is wrong. And next time, intimidate them first, it can be much better than fighting.

You don't need to feel bad at all, you saw a friend in need and helped him, good for you. Next time, tell them to fuck off before opening up a can of whoop-ass. They need to know it's coming.

well, back in highschool the same thing happened to me, i had a very good friend who's gay and a group of assholes would bully him, usually we just ignored it but as time went on it got worse till one day as they were walking by him at his locker they smashed his face into it, i saw it and did pretty much what you did.

so yeah, i personally think you did the right thing.

Welcome to the Escapist!

And yes, I believe you did the right thing. They struck first with words and then with blows. Words I will not punch you over. Actions are another thing. You did what I would have done in the situation.

Yeah, you did the right thing. Bullies bully others becuase they think'll they get away with it, showing them otherwise is, without a doubt, the right thing to do.
