What theme do you prefer in the Final Fantasy series? From what I've played, it seems there are three main themes in the series. Futuristic, steampunk, and medieval. Which one do you prefer? Why?

The series seems to prefer futuristic lately, do you think that's okay?

What should Final Fantasy XV be?

Personally, I prefer futuristic and medieval, and I really like how IV played around with both themes (but mostly medieval, of course). VI seems to have one foot in medieval and one in steampunk, which seems to work out surprisingly well.

IV and VI were perfect for what they were. Up to about VIII Square actually seemed almost to be going on a progression of time sort of thing, with VIII being the most futuristic. I do like some steampunk though.

I think the middle ones are the best...so, kinda of a mix of steampunk and medieval.

>.> or i guess they'd be steam punk while the first couple were medieval? ...Whatever. I think it was better before it was futuristic XD

Well, these are my favorite games...

FFIX - Steampunk.
FFXII and FF Tactics - Ivalice seems to alternate between all three depending on the time period.
FFV - Medieval?
FFVI - Steampunk.

Plus I'm a sucker for steampunk... so my answer is clear. :p I also enjoy some futuristic every now and then though.

I'm kind of a sucker for Steampunk, too...I do like their futuristic settings (FFXIII), but I dislike the gun designs. They're bent tubes! Whyyyyyy

I liked IX's use of steampunk, but that game had a much more cartoony vibe, which was widely applauded. VI was obviously the best game in the series, and the inclusion of steampunk definitely played a part on that. VI was also great because your characters that weren't given magic had awesome abilities that were either technological(Edgar, M-Tek Armour) or martial arts based(Sabin, Cyan, Locke, Shadow) or some other mysticism or power(Relm, Gau, Mog).

You know what Square Enix, don't remake FFVII in HD, please do VI first.

They're thinking about remaking Final Fantasy VI for the Nintendo 3DS. Same with V.

I guess that's not really an "HD" remake, if you were hoping for PS3-level graphics, but the 3DS still has very impressive graphics especially for a handheld. I just hope they take full advantage of the 3DS's tech, instead of making a simple remake like the Final Fantasy IV Collection for PSP and the I and II remake for iOS.

I would still buy any VI remake though, lol.

FF9 did steampunk with a ranbow of grace behind it :3, FF10 had a weird mix of medieval futuristic which worked pretty well especially with blitzball :D, FF10-2...same as 10 near enough(was pretty horrible too >_>), FFTactics(+FF12) had a strong medieval feel that was built a bit with futuristic elements(hulking airships), FF7 was sorta...sci-fi/futuristic/steampunk? o_O going by the alternate planet energy story+lasers!/mechs+huge cities..ect/and airships!, FF13 had a medieval futuristic feel to it alot like 12 but with a hellova lot more futurism crammed in there.

These are all the ones I played and they all filled months of my life with joy...apart from 10-2 >_>, I like the way they work each genre around the story as each game can give a different life absorbing atmosphere :)

Never played final fantasy, I'm not a fan of turn based, or party based RPGs, but I prefer midieval in general for video games. That goes doubly for RPGs.
