Yeah, FF7 is a little over rated these days, but it was still fun. I'd be willing to go through 6,7,9,10,and 12 again. I might have to seeing as 13 is still so far away.

How come no Xenogears? Granted the sequal/prequal horrible Xenosaga made it into a series, Xenogears is one of my top favs.

No Arc the Lad or Suikoden(as mentioned)?

Hmm, Star Ocean? that game could be so much more. Would like to see planet hopping like in Rogue Galaxy.

Another classic I forgot, Lunar (my brother would probably kick my a** for not putting it up there considering thats his fav). Level 5 RPGs dont count cause they have gimmicks to them rather than to be a straightforward RPG, and they aren't series'. Mass Effect I want to get and am sad I never got to try it.

I neglected to mention Strategy/RPG series' because they are strategy games with RPG Elements tacked on.

I don't get why so many people HATE FF9, it has clever art design, good writing, a sense of humor and charming characters... the overarching plot is just complete shit.

Also: Vagrant Story was one of the most well-written games to grace the shit-boat out of Japan.

I loved FF9. It was one of the best in the series, right along with FF5 which was also criminally underrated. FF5 made use of one of the neatest leveling mechanics in the series, and had some damn sexy music to accompany it - a lot of FF9's music, including the extremely awesome Kuja theme was thieved wholesale.

Then again, I cast my vote for Breath of Fire. BoF4 was damn near transcendental, and no one other than myself ever seems to mention it or concur.

Whats with all the JRPGs? Shouldn't the poll have been called "Whats the best JRPG series ever?", because thats all there are on there. There are many other amazing RPGs that aren't Japanese, you know. I'm just gonna ask, where the hell is Fallout? Or KOTOR? Or Mass Effect? (Don't say Mass Effect isn't a series, they're making two sequels to it.)

Maybe, but anyone who basically charges in saying "JRPGS! ANGAR!" clearly just wants to say why WRPG's are better, and that thread has been done to death. It all comes down to.

I liked Golden Sun. Who amongst you could actually see the twist coming?
It was also the first one that taught me patience, that I can't expect to win just by throwing everything I have at them at once

Star Ocean 2. Any time that I can utterly break a game by crafting overpowered weapons early on, I'm sure to fall in love.

I think you should have included some of the big western RPGs in there. I know a lot of people who don't do JRPGs (like myself most of the time). I would say that Knights of the Old Republic is the best series, even though I barely consider Kotor 2 a Kotor game. Kotor 1 was good enough to be a series itself.

Also The Elder Scrolls is epic, along with Baulder's Gate.

Yeah, before all of you get all pissy and angry over my like of WRPGs, I was expecting a discussion on a more broad scale when I saw the title of the poll. I'm just saying, the poll's title is a falsehood when it claims best RPGs ever, but only lists JRPGS. I'm not trying to start a forum war.

And the only Final Fantasy's I ever liked were FF6 for the SNES, and FF9. I went in playing FF7, expecting my face to be royally rocked off by RPG awesomeness, but was severely let down. That game is CRAZILY over-rated. Anyways, FF6 was amazing.

Golden Sun-- that's a game I almost forgot about. I played through the both of those at least three times. (Couldn't link between GBAs, so I had to copy that insanely long code down every single time I got to GS2.)
