As much as i love playing FFXI, sadly i think it will close first due to the immense popularity WoW now has. I haven't seen anyone mention FF now for a long time since WoW came out.
FFXI seems to be populated mainly by people over 25 these days and in my LS there are people over 50 so yeah it's been pushed into the shadows like most grand parents(Ironically this game is one of the eldest 3D MMO's people pay to play) mainly because of difficulty. Thats why FFXI is trying to get old player back with a new thing called 'Return home to Vana'diel' which allows old players recover they're old characters on a new account or something like that. That is a really, really good point and I agree with it 100%.DannyDamage said:Final Fantasy will always have it's hardcore fan base where as WOW players will end up moving on to the next fad when it becomes available. XI's cheaper and comparatively 'quicker' to progress anywhere by all accounts.
And again with the competition? Why is everything 'this vs. that'? Can't things just co-exist? I like the fact a lot of kids play WOW, it means they're not bothering me on FFXI![]()
WoW is the same way with gear....Since FFXI is most certainly a game of "Best equipment only need apply!"...
Where did you hear the new MMO info from?Jursa said:They will both fail eventually, even blizzard realizes this and is starting to make a new MMO. I'd put my money on FFXI to fall first tho.
Perhaps he's thinking of Diablo III, the only game that will detract from WoW's massive userbase. The juggernaut that is World Of Warcraft will chug on to the end of time.stormcaller said:Where did you hear the new MMO info from?Jursa said:They will both fail eventually, even blizzard realizes this and is starting to make a new MMO. Gold star, it comes down to numbers, FFXI has a dedicated fan base and had a two year head start on WoW but that calculates to two more years of age / outdatedness, and WoW has a larger dedicated fan base at this point.Altorin said:XI
no doubt about it
