From what i've heard, the main complaints are linearity and being too easy.
If you don't mind that, then go buy it.

FF games have been too easy for a long time, which the developers know perfectly well. Hence why they add challenging endgame content for more dedicated players, such as Ruby/Emerald for FF7, that Orb thing for FF9, the Dark Eidolons for FF10 (in addition to the specially bred monsters), the Espers and high level hunts for FF12 and so on. I am actually really curious if anything of the sort has been added to FF13.

I look forward to this. Especially because I thought Final Fantasy X was pretty decent. And it looks like it got a nice combatsystem.

Which is really a terrible idea, because people who are looking for a challenge end up being completely bored with the gameplay well before they get through the 60+ hours it takes to even be able to reach the actual post endgame challenge. I don't know why the hell they can't just put in an adjustible difficulty level like every other decent modern game. Grrrr. I hate that.

I can't wait to get my hands on XIII, for me final fantasy is like sex, even bad sex is still hell of alot of fun. Well except for X-2, but even that would only be relagated to bad BJ status, it might hurt a little bit and you might wanna cry but in the end your satisfied.

Anywho getting back on topic, even my not so favorites like IV or II were still fantastic games, stands to reason this one will at the very worst be good.

I'll have to play this once my friends buy it for their PS3, as I do not have a Current-Gen console to my name. If this is half as good as FFVI, it should be entertaining at least. It'll take a lot for it to crack my top 3 of VI, VIII, and Tactics though.

Also, the heat XI gets is kinda odd... is it just because it's an MMO? Or is it the difficulty compared to others, haha. When I played, I talked to former WoW players who got utterly stomped in XI, which made me laugh greatly.

I honestly hope so, after the series of disappointing games since FFX-2. At least the game looks good, but I probably won't get my copy for a few more days...

First impressions, after almost 9 hours:

The intro is great story-wise, but it sucks battle-wise since you basically can only do simple attacks for the first 2 chapters. After that, the battles get much better very fast. I get why they did it (the system is very different than any previous game), but i feel it was a bit longer than needed.

Otherwise, it has a very strong FFX feel... and i love it!! X is my favorite along with IX. The characters are great til now (only annoying one is Snow, but the other characters actually point that out, so i figure it's intentional). I especially like Sahz, and Vanille reminds me of Rikku, who I loved. Also, the fact that they have english lip-synch makes a HUGE difference. No awkward pauses in dialogs anymore. Thank you!!

The battle system also rocks, once you get paradigms. It's very fast paced, and very spectacular. People are moaning about the auto-battle option, but believe me you'll be thanking the designers for that option after a while. It takes a bit to figure it out, and get used to all the action and numbers and paying attention to health, but once you do get used to it, it's very satisfying. It reminds me of the FFX-2 system, which is great (say what you will about the j-pop-ness of that game, but its battle system was the best).

Overall, I really really like it up till now.. and I wasn't expecting that at all. The massive whining before release actually lowered my expectations so much, that I'm quite impressed. :)

Seriously, it is no more linear than FFX. And the no-towns thing makes sense until the point I am, so it doesn't bother me. If you liked X, definetely give it a try.
