Poll: Final Fantasy XIII Dub or Sub

English translations vary greatly in competence. Sometimes the new voicing is lousy and other times, you can adapt to it pretty quickly.

I recall hearing that Square-Enix went the extra mile to actually edit the character's mouths so that the english syncs up perfectly.... Either way, dub all the way.

When english voiceactors do this japanese style cheesy dialogue... It feels so awkward. Really wanted to hear FFX in japanese. I would've loved it even more.

English isn't my native language, so I still turn on the subtitles on an English-language game. My English is pretty good, but it's easier to misunderstand a spoken word than a written one so I look at the subtitles when I don't understand what's being said. Because of that, I prefer games in the original language since I read subtitles no matter what. The same goes for movies.

This is basically it for me too. Although I am very torn in this case. I didn't mind the English voices in FFX at all, believe it or not.

I'll probably go with subs. The fact that cheesy acting sounds less cheesy when you don't know what they're saying is a point for, not against, in my book. Plus: it's a fantasy game! A "foreign" language makes for an immersive experience.

Both! So I can see if the Dialogue changed a bit. Lol but srsly Dub.. They said that for FFXIII Square Enix replaced all the cut-scenes to give it a more realistic look when the characters are talking.

ok kids... i can read and write and speak japanese however my first language is english and i would have to say that those of you who are under the impression that "bad" japanese voice acting is masked by a language barrier need to wake up. the voice acting IS indeed superb compared to the acting brought on by the english actors. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE FLUENT in japanese to recognize the difference in the capture of emotion and over all acting. it will still make a significant difference in the game experience. for the ones who think they had to match words to visual in english, the cut scense have an english visual too that matches the voices to the mouth movement (although not as acurately as the japanese it was made for that purpose) your brain will grow accustomed to the subcaptions and you will harldy realize they are there when the emotion and acting is captured accurately by the japanese actors.overall i would have to say without a doubt if you wish for a better final fantasy experience go with the japanese acting the way it was meant to be viewed.

I didn't think there was an option to play the game in Japanese with English subtitles.

Even if there were, though, I'd go with the dub. Barring a couple of lackluster performances, the VA cast really raised the bar for dub quality this time around. Everyone is just spot on, and actually quite enjoyable to listen to.
