Can you buy me one of these please? Cos they are totally fucking awesome. Not very practical, but who cares?!

[small]It is Christmas after all. [/small]

EDIT: Also, what do you think of this?

A "tacticool" Side by Side shotgun.

The gun snob in me is sickened by it, and I really doubt it's practicality, it looks like shit, so why would anyone want one?
some people love tacticool

makes me want to puke

I know right? Why would you do that to a perfectly decent shotgun! The only people who need tactical shit are police officers and soldiers.

But what to you reckon to those Russian revolver shotguns? I really really really want one.

Question: Whereabouts could I purchase a .455 Webley revolver?
In the UK? Unless it's deactivated, no where. Non blackpowder pistols are entirely illegal.

I shot an M4, AK47, sig 552, tactical shotgun, and 4 more handguns that i cannot remember the names of. My cousin (who owns the guns) enforced the rules so well they just became engrained. Hes a great teacher.

The AK47 is very terrifying BTW
give a brofist to your cousin for me and tell him he is awesome
Sure thing, he is one of my coolest family members

Because the violent crime rate in England went up 300% when they banned handguns.

Not sure if this is more to do with guns or Canadian registration, but I'll eventually want something I can use to defend myself against a robber and hurt them (maybe make them bleed a little) but not kill them (because if they die suddenly it seems like I'm the asshole.) Are airsoft or paintball guns viable for this sort of thing? I've never been hit with an airsoft pellet, and the paintballs have been hit-or-miss (or rather, sometimes they hit and hurt like hell, sometimes they just feel a little cold)
Anyway, this isn't really related to actual guns very much so ignore this if you can't answer or think it's off-topic etc.

You should probably get one of these if you're looking for non-lethal home defense.

Although, if you're still planning on going the paintball/airsoft route, you might as well get a Drozd. Metal BBs hurt ALOT more then paintballs or airsoft pellets.

How common is it to be able to purchase an M1 garand Rifle, Basic spec (WW2 era).

Bare in mind i live in the UK meaning i wont be able to get one, But if i emigrate (serious consideration) i would like that to be the base of my collection.

I've seen a few around, so finding one shouldn't be too hard (You could always use GunBroker too).

I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but the Garands (in good condition) I've seen were going for over $1000. I saw a really nice one in a local store for $1400 not too long ago.

Finding a WWII era M1 Garand with matching serial numbers is getting more and more rare these days. Most GIs swapped out parts in the field, so again, matching numbers are tough to come by. However, I just read that South Korea will be shipping either 80,000 or 180,000 (I can't remember) of their M1 Garands to the U.S. that they recieved during the Korean War. Some of those rifles will likely still be in their original pine boxes and be from the end of WWII.

My M1 Garand is a Korean War era rifle with a fairly high serial number, but it's still a TON of fun to shoot, and it is one of the center-pieces of my collection.

no no no no
if it is legal where you live to kill someone who is trespassing, then don't let them live, taking the nonlethal route opens you up to all sorts of shit. i don't know about canada, but in the states, you can get sued if your intruder gets hurt.

You could get one in the UK, but you would have to have it modified to be straight pull, that is, you have to pull the cocking lever back each time after you fire to chamber a new bullet. It's probably not really worth it though, unless that kind of thing doesn't bother you.

I know right? It's horrific, but over here in the UK it's the only way we can use semi-auto type rifles without breaking the law :(

Would you rather see the Xm8, FN SCAR, HK 416 or Colt M4 in service with American troops?

I seem to suffer from Hunter S Thompson syndrome, I don't really like guns, but am fascinated by them.
HK 416.

majorly simplified answer: If owning guns is a criminal act, law abiding citizens will not have them, the majority criminals however will not be stopped. Then, how do we defend ourselves in a threatening situation? I can go on if you want, thats just the one of the strongest points IMO.
*EDIT*
My most recent paper was actually about the firearms policies in america, and i can post excerpts if requested

the first amendemt (probably misspelled) has been so misconstrued latley, the founding fathers put that one in not meaning "every citizen should be allowed their own personal arsenal to shoot animals with" but so that guns would be carefully maintained and handled sensably and used to create a quickly assembled resistance incase of an invasion.
