So my friend has never actually sat down and watched Star Wars and now she wants to watch ALL OF THEM.

My question to you, it in which order should someone new see them?

Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
or
Episodes 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3

I shouldn't have to explain the pluses and minuses to star wars fans, I just can't decided which would be better!

Cheers!

Edit: PS She wants to watch all 6 movies for better or for worse!
Edit #2: Added a 3rd option of 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 because that has blown my mind.

I propose another option. Watch 4-5-6 on VHS since it's the closes to the cinema you can get, then if she likes them punch her in the face and tell her that's what the other trilogy is by comparison and that you just saved several hours of her life.

Just 4, 5, 6, in that order. We can just pretend the others didn't happen. Besides, those three can easily be comprehended without the other three.

What about you get the worst shit right down in the beginning, and then have the movies get progressively better?

It'd go like this:

2,1,3,6,4,5.

That really is the best order I'd imagine.

Probably as they were released so they can get the full effect of finding out about Anakin's earlier years.

And then maybe hating the prequel series.

4,5,6,1,2,3 mostly because it's fun putting the pieces together, well it was for me

This essentially. I recently got the box set that came out fairly recently and compared to the VHS version it was a total downgrade. Hey George Lucas, clogging up the screen with cgi shit no cares about is NOT the way to improve classics, making the picture quality better is.

Watch stuff in the order it came out.
I second this. It's the same as with any prequel, I would say to watch the original first, then the prequel. Otherwise the prequel will actually make less sense, because it was made to be watched after the original.

4, 5, 6. Tell her there aren't any others, it's better that way.
Not a truer word was spoken this side of 2005... ¬_¬

But, as with a few others: 4; 5; 6; 1; 2; 3. That way she'll be able to fully appreciate the crap of the prequels... with the possible exception of 3, though Anakin's perpetual whininess may put paid to that comment...

I have to say going in the narrative order would be best. 1) I'm a sucker for maintaining narrative flow, and 2) it saves the better movies for last.

Watch 4,5,6.... Then stop. Take the disks of 1,2 and 3, put them in a oil drum, fill the oil drum with petrol then set fire to it. Once the fire has burned out hopefully you should have some melted metal and plastic at the bottom, take this, cut it into four, place in separate envelopes and post to the four volcanoes that are furthest away from you. This is what you should do.

4,5 and 6, because it works like this, watch the originals first and you can appreciate the story, then when you watch the new ones you can go, "wow! look at how they've improved combat etc but the story is nowhere near as close in quality" but, if you do it vice versa, what happens is that you get all the modern technology and then you watch the old ones and it's like watching an old film, you just can't help but say, "this is worse, it's like Vader and Kenobi have palsy!" and then you may not even finish them or pay attention

4,5,6 then the prequals. Mostly because the whole 'Luke I am your father' thing should be kept intact. Unless she already knows that because of cultural osmosis, but watch it like that anyway.

4,5,6. then 1,2,3. Might be the my stubbornness but I feel they should be in order they released.

Importantly don't try to influence her opinion, even if you hate 4,5,6 don't taint the films for her, just suggest the order. Once she has seen the films then you can happily ***** about how bad eps 1,2 and 3 are.

Depends, if you one of the people who believes original is always the best. then 4,5,6,1,2,3. But if you watching for story and not the nolgastic feeling then 1,2,3,4,5,6. I voted 1,2,3,4,5,6 because Episode 1 was my first movie I watched in theaters

Avoid Blu Ray like the plague. The CGI effects on the original trilogy make me think that the Prequels had syphilis and it spread.
