I've always been really into European metal, specifically Melodic Death Metal (Kalmah, CoB etc), and recently bands such as Wintersun, which is sort of extreme epic symphonic power everything melodeath. I really love the melodies and how the keyboards and guitars work together, plus the brutal scream/growling.

So escapist metal fans, what do you favour and why?

I picked mellodeath but I'm also a huge prog fan. My tastes are pretty spread in metal, I don't really stick to one genre. I just like what I like.

I think that entities shouldn't be multiplied without necessity :

Death/Thrash for me. I love bands like Legion of the Damned and Devian. I really like Thrash, but I can't get used to the voices in plain Thrash so the Death Metal vocals in it fix it up for me--Death Metal was the first kind of 'metal' that I got into.

Power Metal, it's my second love. It has a special place in my heart, I associate it with Fantasy Novels, love, epic-ness, RPGs, and so much more.

I'd have to go with the NWOBHM, since it's basically what I grew up with, and I like comprehensible lyrics.

At the moment I'm on a big Black Metal kick, so I went with that. Comprehensible lyrics are obviously not a necessity.
