Oh i forgot one thing, it's called teabagging because it's reffering the Boston tea party in 1773 that was protesting britain's absurd tax policies. it's not reffering to fps squats in a tdm, jesus christ it's not that hard to figure out. Nor is it a hidden little joke for nazis.

Btw, there were democrats at those events too... But you wouldn't hear that on MSNBC
watch the video, its right under the 1st post, the number of references to tea bag as a verb rather than a noun makes something, either an oblivious double entente or an intentional one... either way its a bit ignorant to castigate a post without following the whole thread...
those were 3sec clips over 5+ different shows in the span of a week period. grats, your now a pawn of the Obama's socialist agenda

Fox was just covering what they thought was a historical event. Conversely i can say that all MSNBC did was cover Fox who was covering the rallies. Besides, everyone who criticizes fox doesn't watch fox and takes someone else's word for it. like this guy...

As I have also said before, I don't much care about one network or the other, I didn't start this thread to start a willy waving contest, all I wanted to do was point out a humorous current event, if you feel the need to get your nickers in a bunch over it, feel free.

I'll take this all back to my original point, it was funny. Both networks used the term "tea bag" as a verb, which has a gaming connotation, hence its presence on this forum, and I thought my fellow gamers would get a chuckle out of it, beyond that, I don't much care. I am curious if Fox used the term "tea bag" with knowledge of its other meaning (I can tell MSNBC sure did). I don't care one bit for journalistic integrity since it seems to me neither side can claim very much in that department, so, there you go.

I'm pretty sure the anti-tax rallies are called "Tea Parties" not tea bagging.
yeah, thats true, I was talking about the campaign to "tea bag" the white house or "tea bag Obama" and all that, I did mix the terms at times, sorry if it wasn't clear.

How is Fox 'News' even justified as journalism? Surely that comes under the term of false advertising.

So, I was talking to a friend about this...

1. This has nothing to do with the republicans.
2. This was organized by The Libertarians, Greenies, Constitutionalists, and the Labor Parties.
3. They called it Tea Party, not Tea Bagging.
4. The Republicans/ect made it sound like they planned it.
5. MSNBC/Fawx/CNN apparently did this on purpose to get more ratings.

Stopped reading at fox news.

For a network people seem to hate so much they sure do love talking about it.

Is it true what they say? Is it bliss?

I thought the video was helarious. I laughed through pretty much the whole thing.

This was effing hilarious, I couldn't keep a straight face. This was a great joke amongst gamers and even though it makes them seem beyond retarded I'll give them points for at least trying to do their job.

As far as I know many of these points are unfounded:

1. Numerous Republican representatives attended and spoke at the rallies. (The Republican Governor of Texas even promoted secession at the rally he addressed)
2. Senator Lindsey Graham was among the lead architects of the movement although other groups did most of the actual organizing. ( The groups were predominantly anti-government and anti-tax)
3. Actually it was mentioned as an ode to the Boston Tea Party, however, the actual name of some aspects of the protest was "Let's Tea Bag the White House" or "Tea Bag Obama".
4. In fact it was probable that the Republican party or at least Republican affiliated organizations sent representatives to assist in the planing stages (assuming there were) to allow them to gain some political capital in fighting against Obama by saying they were a part of the movement. However, many of the Representatives taking credit for the event are more then likely telling a lie.
5. Fox was in fact doing just this in the face of waning ratings due to the unpopularity of Republicans and Right-Wing issues, CNN and MSNBC just capitalized on the absurdity of the protest as well as the humorous double entente the event names generated.

I couldn't stop laughing when I heard of this story and the low turnout at the rallies themselves as well as the eccentric nature of some of the attendees just was icing on the proverbial cake.

especially #5, Fox is destroying every liberal news network in the ratings. Fox has the top 10 news shows all to themselves.

as for #4, there were a few dems at the tea parties

good point, it's their last ditch effort before Fox runs them out of town, even the New York Times are going bankrupt. MSNBC only has 700,000 people watching them, now for a country with 300,000,000+ people that's pretty fucking pathetic.

I think that you have found some fairly sketchy information on three counts there:

1. Fox has actually lost a substantial amount of viewership since the start of 2008 whereas MSNBC has skyrocketed in that same time ( As for the top ten news shows: The Countdown has consistently beaten The Factor in the ratings during the same period Fox was/is declining and given those are the prime time broadcasts for both networks it shows that in fact MSNBC has a higher viewership unless Fox has extremely high numbers at other times in any given day)
2. Democrats are a large segment of the population so the law of averages dictates that there will be a few conservative Democrats attending as well however this statement "as for #4, there were a few dems at the tea parties" is very misleading as the vast majority of tea party goers were either of the Republican Party or of other right wing organizations.
3. Do you seriously expect a News Network to compete with the ENTIRETY of television for ratings even if there was nothing else on the television the number of people watching a program are not indicative of the actual opinions of the country. Also all media is hurting now and saying that because of the losses of a few publications is the sign that all Liberal media is dead is absurd.

However, saying that, I respect your views even though I disagree with your interpretation of the facts. I know we are both trying to better the understanding of the issues by others and as such lead to a better society as a whole. A good debate betters all of society.

I think it's pent up anger over losing the election. It doesn't matter if their messages actually make sense (which they don't), they just want a reason to vent against Obama.

I will agree that MSNBC and CNN had very high ratings during the campaign season, but once Obama was inaugerated, the AIG scandal, and Obama's trillions of dollars spent since then made many americans lose faith and turned to Fox and conservative talk-radio. this 'rating shit' has been taking place over the last 6 weeks. now the liberal media is desperate and hence the attacks on Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, and even Glen Beck(who's not even conservative); they took everything they said out of context. However, it back fired on them and while i won't say it's dead, it's slowly but surely decreasing in the ratings. Now obviously now show, not even Letterman, can compete with the O'Reilly Factor(#1 news show last 100 months) but even some lowly Fox morning shows are beating CNN's and MSNBC's prime time blocks as of late. For the most part, I don't really care about the ratings, just what's presented. I think I explained why I prefer Fox over liberal media in my first post in this thread.

EDIT:(FROM A PREVIUOS POST)Here's what i mean, we all remember when the liberal news crucified Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter for being pregant right? Well a few weeks ago, Joe Biden's daughter did... something bad... I don't what it was because Fox news was mature enough not invade her privacy. Whenever they mentioned what she did, they bleeped it out. You wouldn't hear that on CNN, NBC, or MSNBC because they don't respect ones privacy and since a liberal did the wrong doing, the story is quickly swept under the rug to fuel the brainwashing propaganda machine. Instead it's replaced with a communist ranting about how the world's problems are the conservatives fault somehow. No seriously, i actually watched the whole 10min of his rant and he didn't say one fact. This is why Fox is #1. Q.E.D

Watching this, it's clear they had no idea of any other use for the phrase, and it's all in the minds of the immature people online.

I don't care about networks, political/social parties, or ANYONE really involved in this, but when my mom turned on the Daily Show and Jon Stewart plugged a segment describing a rally as teabagging, my friends and I just hit the floor.

I got so humor-high that I'm in some kind of nirvana state right now.
...I love you, man. *giggle*
