I'd watch them if I had no other options at the time, but I would take everything they say with a grain of salt.

If Fox were simply a conservative-run station I would have no problem with it, however I DO have a problem with them going out of their way to bash democratic politicians at the expense of journalistic integrity, and I don't like the constant homophobic, racist, and misogynist undercurrents I see in shows like the O'Reilly Factor and The Glenn Beck Program.

I realize that no news station can ever be truly unbiased, but Fox seems to go out of its way to be as opinionated and close-minded as possible.

Actually, he is, he's probably just biased in the same direction that you are.

And you only think Beck's an idiot because a. you've only seen out-of-context quotes and vids of him on the net and haven't ever watched his actual show, or if you have, you disagree with his viewpoint to a frightening degree.
Actually I hate him because I have watched his shows and he related every thing to either a communist or fascist tie.
Isn't that the basis for his entire schtick? It's not a good schtick, but it's still schtick.
Yeah but when he declares that Obama (who I don't mind, yet don't love) is a closet nazi or is going to start the fourth rich I think thats taking the schtick to far.
If you think he's actually accused Obama of that then you've clearly NOT watched him before. He identifies Obama as a racist (which is arguable) and a Maoist (which is also arguable but has a shitload of evidence behind it) .

Actually even BBC as been noted as having a Lefist bias.
Though I personally watch BBC from time to time and find nothing biased about the reporting, there have been a couple stories where they were clearly being leftwing(what can I say, that trend started in the late 60s).
If the BBC has any bias at all, its a little government biased. But hey, thats where they get their funding. Still, they are probably the best, least bias news available. If there is any bias, its marginal and very well hidden.
Also, i checked your profile, to see if you were from the US (and you are) as, if you are from the US it will most likely look like the BBC has a leftist bias because compared to america the UK has a leftist bias. (even our conservatives would be dirty commies in the US)
If i ever watch fox news or glenn beck or something its only because its kind of funny seeing how awful they are.

I'm starting to wonder if the Glenn Beck I keep seeing is a different one than everyone else is seeing. Every time I turn on the Daily Show they have some clip of him being crazy and saying outrageous things and every time I get on the internet someone is complaining about how stupid and crazy is, I've seen multiple books talking about all the crazy things he says. Yet every time (all 4 or 5 of them) I've turned on his show expecting it to be hilarious, he just calmly says a bunch of reasonable things that I don't quite agree with until I get bored and change it.

The other day I saw one where he was talking about some senator or other that died. He showed a bunch of clips of people honoring him on TV then said that no one ever mentioned he was extremely racist and once was a member of the KKK. I don't agree that you should suddenly change the rules about talking bad about dead people and just rant on about the bad things this guy said and did back in the 50's and 60's, but everything he said was entirely reasonable and there were none of these crazy rants I keep hearing about where he declares Obama a muslim communist traitor and says that gays are secret Al Qaeda operatives or something.
Glenn Beck himself has said that he doesn't check the facts of what he is saying, and its really not hard to find a video of him saying something crazy.

This amuses me greatly. (skip to about 3:20)
In this one Beck shows himself off as racist

Becks "evidence" is nothing more than a sensationalist opinion. There is no evidence for Obama being either a maoist or a racist. Show me this so called evidence please, i would so dearly love to see it.

I don't really think that channel should be called Fox news, seeing as how they self-admittedly only run actual news programs less than 6 hours a day.

Yet Obama is half white, has a white vice president, and his BLACK father ran out on him. Yes this means he is a very racist person, go get him beck you Prophet or what ever your claiming yourself to be. And I have and yes he does. any organization associated with Obama he declares as the Brown shirts.

At first, I guess I never really cared either way about FOX News.

And then came the day of the Virginia Tech massacre. Just a couple hours after that had happened, FOX News allowed Jack Thompson on the air to blame that tragedy on video games.

I guess that's what led me never to have any shred of respect for FOX News. Ever.

Not really, the American Media is pretty center-left but is occassioaly swayed right depedning on who's in the Office of the Presidency. I don't agree with some of Obama's decisions or universal healthcare, but you won't find me agreeing with Glenn Beck either (who is, as you can see a complete uneducated buffoon.

Although if you spoke my my mother, you'd think Glenn Beck was the greatest American since Geogre Washington -_-

They're evil. The times they don't lie, they tell the truth in such a skewed way that the end result is still dishonest.

We don't get Fox news over here, but it's like Sky news?
I don't watch it, it's for people like my brother who read tabloids, believe anything they believe and haven't been fully educated.

That's why I tend to get most of my news from The Daily Show, and to a lesser extent the Colbert Report. They cover the same stuff, usually, just with a less sensationalist(sp?) attitude. Is it bad that I think the satirists are better journalists than the actual journalists? Granted the Colbert Report tends to go a little overboard with the bad jokes and puns, what are you gonna do.

P.S. Who else wants to go to Glenn Beck's rally just to see how non-sensical he's going to get?

Broadcast news is inherently biased because you're having a person give the news. but people just don't fid that entertaining so you have to have commentary on the news. Every single news channel has their own version of Glenn Beck, the only problem with Fox is that their "Glenn Beck" is insane, well most of them are insane, he's just a little more so.

Anyone who uses Nazis as his knee jerk response is clearly nuts. For crying out he has called a jewish group descended from Holocaust survivors. I have to agree with Flig at the moment, the satirists are the better journalsits. The "real journalists" in the United States are currently almost all insane, mostly because insanity is what getts them ratings.

In quick summary, and to use a Crime & Punishment reference for the less literary, The average American's journalist thinks they're a Napoleon.

I don't really like any of the news stations, they are all biased, maybe FOX a little more so.

Still, I don't understand the liberal obsession with FOX news. Every single freakin' argument with a liberal involves him telling his opponent to "Go watch more FOX NEWs hahahaha I'm so clever..." It's dumb. If you don't like it, don't watch it. That's my view of it.

To those of you who say that you get your news from the Daily Show and the Colbert Report...That. Is. Horrible. They are biased too, you know.

Vary your sources of information, the blind acceptance of one point of view is hurting the country.

I don't think anyone seriously believe they get their news from Stewart and Colbert; but rather get an expositional treatment of the news as supplied by cable networks.
Especially Stewart is important, because in a very lucid and confrontational way, he manages to penetrate the absurd sphere of american TV journalism; regardless of political bias.
Sure, he has his own beliefs. But he's a comedian. He has no responsibility in maintaining a reserved and objective stance on any given subject.

Stewart and Colbert are an excellent news source on news, they satirize the news in an easy to consume 2 hours of programming a week, and if you can keep up, you'll understand the gist of both sides arguments.

I think there is a problem when people fear bias. Obviously if someone gets their news from the daily show or colbert is getting bias news, but so is whoever watches fox or msnbc or cnn. The respectability or responsibility to the truth is all relative, given that you can flip to fox and watch them crone on about facisim and communism (when'd they start using these interchangably... I don't know.) Or flip to msnbc and watch them give up your time to tweets from the streets and all that crap.

To say: Watch all the news and be well informed on everything is rather stupid, as no one has time for that. Just pick something you like, Fox, Msnbc, the Daily Show, and live the lie.
