A new FPS is coming out for all three consoles. They all have the same story and multiplayer components. Which console do you get it for?
PROS:
Wii- Motion controls
360- Online
PS3- Graphics

CONS:
Wii- Low graphics
360- (can't think of one)
PS3- Lousy Trigger

P.S. I'm not trying to advocate the 360. I just really can't come up with a glaring flaw.

ASSUMING THAT YOU HAVE ALL THREE

I'm not including the PC. You don't enroll Micheal Phelps in a High School Swim Meet.
Why not include PC?

I mean everyone who is on this forum... THEY have a PC. Unless they are using the media browser on PS3 but that is pretty freaking unlikely. And Mac users probably are too busy taking pictures of themselves to bother with any games.

Seriously, it is not hard to match even PS3 performance on any PC with a dual-core CPU, which I think now makes up the majority of PCs in use now. You don't need a super powerful PC to play the latest games at as good a quality or even higher quality than the consoles.

Games like Team Fortress 2 will work on virtually any PC.
I'M NOT INCLUDING THE PC BECAUSE THEN EVERYONE WOULD PICK IT!!!
Here's an example:

Which weapon do you think is capable of doing the most damage to a single human being?

A. Shotgun
B. Katana
C. Desert Eagle
D. Nuclear Missile

The PC is the Nuke.
Also, READ THE TITLE >>>WHICH CONSOLE?<<<

well went you put it that way...

See with your Phelps analogy I got the idea an Olympic swimmer would simply be too rare or expensive or over the top for a race (implying PC was "too expensive/attainable"). I didn't know you were excluding entirely due to how unfair it would be. He does swim like a bloody dolphin though.

I'd say it is about an even split between PS3 and 360 then.

360 has the edge in:
-edge in quality of multi-platform FPS games
-Halo 3 (that's pretty much it for exclusive FPS)
-More comfortable controller

Yet is let down by:
-Poor moderation of online
-XBL gold membership fee
-over-dependence on P2P matchmaking

PS3 wins out with:
-more Exclusive FPS games that also look and perform technically better too (Resistance: FOM, Resistance 2 & Killzone 2. Also MAG on the way)
-more feature filled controller (best shown off with the tilt-lean in MOH: Airborne)
-Mouse+KB support with many games (Unreal Tournament 3)
-Extensive use of Dedicated servers in online games (Resistance 2 and Warhawk)

Hmm, on reflection I'd go with PS3. But for the multiplatfom games, if you don't have a PC, I'd have to recommend to just wait until you CAN get a PC to play the likes of Bioshock, Orange Box, COD, FEAR, etc

I'd say 360 wins, it has a better controller, no chance for stupid motion gimmicks and better online (though you have to pay for it.)

what about the fact that 50% of 360s just give up and die without warning?

thats a glaring flaw...

plus the online community will probably be a bunch of d-bags and little kids...ps3: not as many mics lol

PC. Keyboard and Mouse > all.
In my opinion.
This.

But if you HAVE to choose a console, any of them can be good. The Wii has the upper hand in theory, but often better FPSes come out on the other consoles. The only really good FPS on the Wii that comes to mind would be Metroid Prime 3. Well, there's CoD4: Reflex Edition as well, but it has some framerate issues.

Honestly, I don't really like the 360 trigger, but I guess I'm a bit biased because I had played on Playstation consoles so much before playing on an Xbox.

However, I think I'd choose the Wii because I really want a fun FPS for the Wii to play with friends.

I seriously don't understand how a mouse/keyboard is so much better than a controller. If I'm so serious about the controls feeling natural, I'll get gun-shaped upgrades for a Wiimote-except Wii FPSs are terrible.

Sure, the PC will always have the advantage of mods, but I am by no means made of money. Maybe if gaming were a job, I would be more willing. But no, it's a hobby.
Some people, myself included, are just acclimatised to the mouse and keyboard controls and they feel really natural to them. I know for a fact that depending on the situation, I can't aim for shot with a controller.

Some games are better suited for controllers, though; Flight Sims/Air Combat games and platformers are good examples of that. I can't imagine what it'd be like trying to play H.A.W.X. if I didn't have a 360 controller that was compatible with windows.

What do you mean Ps3 has a lousy trigger? It works just fine with Borderlands and Resistance 2. I'll admit I'd probably buy it for ps3, but still you've basically right off the bat told us how biased you are towards the 360. This poll is now null and void because of that.
Regardless of what we say (and there's quite a few things wrong with both the ps3 and the 360 -.-) you're going to defend your console, obviously.
Also, the graphics for the ps3 and 360 are practically indentical (except that the ps3 is a darker shade). Also the Ps3 has online capbility as well as the 360, so you've completely dismissed that. Sure it may not be as solid as XBL, but on the upside we don't have to pay online subscription fees. There are both pro's and cons for both, but you are Pro-360, boo Ps3.

Games for both PS3 and 360 are generally identical on both consoles. The only difference is that the 360 sometimes receives DLC before the PS3. If you're already paying the $60 a year for live, you may as well get it for the 360, if not, it isn't worth $60/year and you should get it for the PS3.

Wii only gets craptastic ports of good FPS'. Do not use your Wii for FPS'.

I'd call the online a flaw simply because of the xbox live population.
Haha as much as I love my 360, this is actually exceptionally true... It really is obnoxious to get into a pregame lobby and just have (yes this is a generalization, but only just) some 19 year old swearing non stop, or some 12 year old whose voice is like nails on a chalkboard. The best is when you get both, and they go back and forth... Oh, did I mention I have my online setting set to mute all? Plus I'm in a party with my friends most of the time, regardless of what game we're all playing, so I think that's a lot more fun.

OT: Definitely the 360. Even if it didn't have the online, I just dislike the PS3 for most things, mostly because of the controllers, and the Wii just bothers me because I can never seem to find the right place to point the damn controller...

EDIT: As for those of you saying "PC" blah, blah, blah, it's not asking about the PC... It asked which of the three consoles.
