Well, the giant part doesn't really faze me. Like that guy above, i'm from Australia where common spiderbros can grow to close to the size of your hand. These are the spiders you allow to live in your bed/bathroom in exchange for killing the other pests.

The thing that would make me pause is the bright blue-ness. Now THAT is extremely weird and i can only think or 1 reason as to why blue would be a good camouflage for it.

IT CAN FUCKING FLY.

And THAT is what would make me go grab a shotgun and a video camera. Video it for a few seconds to help the scientists, and then kill that bastard with Dragonsbreath shells. For those of you who don't know, google. It's basically combining a shotgun with a flamethrower, and for this situation is obviously perfect.

I would then put my house on the market and move at least 250km away.

I voted "catch it", but then I read it's blue and massive. Uhh, I think I'd be getting out of there.

If I was feeling brave I might come back with an ice cream container or a bucket to trap it with (with holes to minimise the fanning effect) duct taped to a stick because I'm not going near that thing until it's trapped, a thick piece of cardboard to slide under it, some superglue in case the thing can push its way out or some clumsy idiot drops the cardboard, and a small army of people with tennis rackets and cans of bug spray for self defense, hell we may as well all be wearing protective jumpsuits. =P Dunno. I guess I'd call the bug exterminators who actually have those protective things and know what they're doing.

Id also tell my sister to take my nephew far far away he is allergic to house spider bites and has been in hospital twice.
It's baffling how often some of these people manage to get bitten by things. There was this girl in my grade who was allergic to ant bites, and she seemed to get bitten at least once every two months, which is strange. Is it common to get bitten by house spiders where you are?

Massive spiders? thats normal down here. the blue bit tho... thats new. I would probably sit on the other side of the room and watch it. If it came for me tho, if I'm wearing boots I'll kill it, if (more likely)I'm not I would run like a little girl.
Congratulations, I'm now officially afraid to go to Australia.

As for the OT, is this before or after I burn my entire fucking house down? Because that's the only way to ensure that thing NEVER gets anywhere near me.

It's common to get bitten by spiders pretty much everywhere. But unless you are allergic (or live in Australia) you aren't likely to notice, since it will usually be like any other insect bite. Most species aren't dangerous to humans

Actually I think I've seen somewhere that people swallow on average 3 spiders a year without even noticing. Again, probably not in Australia

I hit the "catch it" option, and then I noticed the "size of a football" bit. I'd fucking run.

You know that scene in the matrix where they summon the rows and rows of guns in the training area. I would use every single one of those and destroy the spider and probably the wall it was sitting on. I would then burn down the house with Napalm to make sure any other spiders of that species died. Then I would move, to the bottom of the ocean.

Not an arachnophobe but any insect or arachnid more than twice the size of what I am used to seeing dies.

I'd eat it. Whole. Crap fame and fortune I want to eat a giant most-likely venomus (or poisonous since I'd eat it.) creature. But yes, I probably would kill it first though.

Well, since it's a spider, it's venomous, which means eating it is safe. As long as you don't have open wounds on any part of your digestive system.

I would catch it.not so much for the fame and fortune stuff (although that wouldn't go astray), or having a cool new spider possibly named after me (arachnis fungus?),but more so I has a cool pet that will also scare/eat intruders and eat bugs that annoy me.might hafta get a terrarium.with a lockable lid.just in case.

Pretty sure I'd run like hell, but I'd probably close all the doors to that room and hope that when I brought people to show/catch it, it's still be there....

Kill it. Ohh good god all spiders must die. I freaking hate spiders, not scared unless they're big. I'd still kill the damn thing. once I arm myself.

If it's the size of a football I couldn't kill it, and how the hell does a spider that big sneak up on me? Anyway, I'm taking off like a bat out of hell, to get someone who isn't afraid of spiders to catch it, we can both be famous and rich.

You know there are some species of spiders that live at deep-sea levels, right? They're pretty fuckin scary-looking too

Normally, I'm not afraid of spiders. But in that situation I'd grab the nearest weapon and kill the thing. *shudders*

Catch it! That thing sounds awesome. There's no proof it's poisonous.

Maybe it's like a Whale Shark, bigger then other sharks, yet the least threatening to a human.

For the love of god please let that image be fake. Otherwise I picture no sleep or trips to Australia in my near future.

OT: I'm absolutely terrified of the things so I'd probably take a picture or two of it, attempt to catch it and if it started exhibiting super spider powers...I'd run, far away. This topic has all ready given me chills and nightmares.
that pic might be fake, I don't know, but this news artical isn't.

One question: Why does this spider have 9 legs?
Because its not a spider. It is an aracnid, like spiders and scorpians, but its a solifugae.
