Considering nearly that much was just given to pharmaceutical companies over the last 10 years (with no drop in RX costs or any other benefit to people outside of the RX companies) I'd say it isn't too bad.JWAN said:

Or more simply understand that he said free healh care. So free is free. Period. If I started a thread on spider-man vs. Jesus I would hope that people wouldn't bring up that Jesus is a fictitious character.
We realize that the concept is naive in a world full of JWAN's but it doesn't stop the fantasy thread from existing.
As one of Her Majesty's subjects, I already have free health care... as a 16 year old, I have parents who pay the tax for me, and, as I just went out shopping today, I already have waffles too. However, you can never have enough waffles (unless, of course, you don't like 'em and have a valid reason for not liking them).
I think people are going off the "free" health care bill that is before the US Senate now. If not I still choose waffles because the military covers... everything.theultimateend said:

Yes they create jobs, but very few and not very well paying relative to their overall cost. You could take a dozen different more helpful professions and produce many times more employees and STILL turn a profit from the excess money you wouldn't be spending.

As a Brit, I say free healthcare. Although I would anyway, because right now I fear I may have tonsilitis and will be booking a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning just in case, so I don't particularly want to pay for surgery if I do have it...
the waffles were tempting, but they are very cheap and if i crack my skull off of something i'd like the healthcare to be free.
Yes, granted the military does have a lot of excessive spending, at the same time who approves it? Congress does. Also I'm not quite sure what we should do with our nuclear war heads. It's not like you can just dump them in the ocean like everything else (bu dum tish). Seriously though, most spending conducted by the military goes towards development of new technologies in most fields, not just weaponry. There is also a whole lot of money going toward building new foreign bases, and war efforts to aid citizens of the middle east with food shelter and water.
