Well two of my friends both tried to get me to log into a fake steam site of course I am too smart for that and was having none of the Sh*t...so what I did was report there accounts saying what website they wanted me to go and that they were hacked and that it wasn't them on purpose but the accounts should be frozen till they get it fixed...this is what the 3rd time this has happened to me(all different times not three at the same time)..I swear I have only steam friends who are facepalm worthy ppl lol...and no i did not enter my info in the fake steam site.

So what have you all done?

EDIT: added more background info

When one of my friends got hijacked, he was able to contact Steam within an hour of the hijacking. They froze the account and got it back for him. Also, the fake website that had been offering free games tried to hijack several of my friends accounts, and mine as well. At least those attempts failed.

I don't have friends on steam, I don't go online with games.
Please stop and think for a second. You entered into a thread about the Steam service. Yeah I can give you the benefit of the doubt maybe you thought it was an account for some of that steam they pipe under some US cities.

After you entered the thread and noted you had no knowledge you then decided what the hell, why don't I post anyway?! I am sure this guy wants to hear how I have no knowledge on the subject what-so-ever!

Is that really a correct train of through? Why didn't you leave after you noticed you had nothing worthwhile to contribute? The only thing you accomplished is clogging up the forum with useless crap and wasting people's time. Good job.

OT: Just report it, I wouldn't have a whole lot of sympathy for them. Probably made their password something simple. Maybe the experience of having the account frozen while they sort it out will teach them to use passwords that are a bit more secure. Edit: Ah you are talking about phishing. Sorry, even less sympathy. I don't see how people constantly fall for that.

I don't quite understand what you mean OP. Someone on your steam friends got their account hacked, and so the person on that account then asked everyone on the list (including you) to go to this site, where you would enter your steam details? That's never happened to me before. But if it did I'd just delete the person, not bother reporting them.

What their passwords were doesn't make a whole lot of difference if they are tricked to log in with their steam accounts on a fake steam site.

I still wouldn't have much sympathy for them, though, because I'm a careless bastard.

Noticed that, I edited the post to say I have even less sympathy for someone that falls for a phishing scheme. It's pure carelessness to follow links in email and enter your password without checking that it's a valid URL.

I've never been sent phishing messages by people who are on my friends list, just by people randomly starting a conversation.

Most of the time random people just talk to me it's not about my account details so I still accept.

If it happened to someone on my friends list I'd message them to tell them what's happening and let them deal with it, wouldn't delete or anything though.

Indeed. If they were stupid enough to fall for something like that, they would not be worthy of the privilege of calling themselves my friends, thus it would hardly concern me.

As long as you don't give away personal info you should be fine, also if your computer has a good firewall you should be fine, scan your computer often in case of spyware.

There is potential in this though. Personally I have no one on my Steam friends list that I don't also communicate with through Skype (ingame voice chat doesn't get a minute of my time) or MSN.

Logic thus dictates that, should their account have been compromised, they would be subjected to merciless mocking through other available communication channels.
