Crash. And. Burn.

Although I did live with her for a while. It was just... Horribad. Stupid, stupid mistake. She had a thing for me, my fiance was eating every aspect of my life/soul and turning me from "Man" into "Thing to be scraped off your shoe".

So, yeah, I went there. Made me feel better for a while. And after the relationship ended with the fiance I lived with my fuckbuddy for a while. Its all in the past now.

Then I found god and went celibate. Life truly is interesting.

True "friends with benefits" relationships are rare. As a rule of thumb, one of the two people involved is always coming back for a reason other than sex.
This is true.

I voted yes; crash and burn, not pretty, etc.
Was my first year of uni, I was 19, she was a few months younger. Good friend of several years, similar personalities and interests, it just happened one night when she was staying at mine and we decided to keep going with it because it was so fun. We both agreed a romantic relationship was out of the question because we'd been friends for so long and I for one was still kind of recovering from the split with an ex.
Turns out (many months later) she has always had feelings for me, for nearly the whole time we've been friends. It was really fun until I found this out, and afterwards I just felt like a massive douche for leading her on, even without knowing it. So I broke it off and we literally haven't spoken in two years; since then she's moved away to London for uni.

It's a no-go area for me now! Not worth losing a good friend over.

"Friends with benefits" is such a pretentious expression. I don't like it one bit.

Well, if it happens, it happens, what can I say.

I have before but he made me think it was something more.
Twas my first sexual relationship when I was about 14 and he more or less used me which sucked because it's not the way you want to start off.
I personally couldn't do it. I'm prudish and only have sex with people I love so I need to feel something towards that person.

Personally, I think fuck buddies works out a lot better than friends with benefits.
I want to have your children, you are hilarious.

OP: Feh... It depends on whether the benefits are any good. And If we both know it's not going any further than the haybale.

Yes, and we are still friends without any crash and burn. In fact this has happened several times. But why is there no poll option for such a happy ending?

I've got two, an ex of mine and her boyfriend.
And two others, but I think that fuckbuddy is more appropriate there.

My last relationship started with us being FWBs. It got serious, relationship lasted 6 months, then we broke up due to her family not trusting me because I wasn't Christian. Fucking religious nutjobs.

I've never done it, and as badly as it would probably end, I'd most likely jump at the chance to try it.
If only because I haven't gotten any in more than a year.

Can it work? Sure. Does it normally work? Well...

The one I'm currently in is about to be over because I'm trying to relocate.
The one before that was more of her using me for sex, we weren't really friends.
The one before that she suddenly wanted a LTR with kids in the picture.
The one before that we weren't really friends, and she was only here on vacation.
The one before that got herself a boyfriend.

2012 has been a weird year for me. Every woman I just wanted to fuck wanted my affections, and every woman I was willing to give my affections to just wanted to fuck. Hmm... strange...

Yup, me and my girlfriend were friends with benefits for about a year before we got more "serious".

We've now been together for four years almost.

It's fun, I enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, and it definitely helps if you don't want more.

The one I'm in right now is in the awkward stage of maybe transitioning to more, but who knows. I wish I knew more about the etiquette of such situations though.

Lacking a poll option for me... I've been in several such relationships, and they all ended amicably (didn't get old. Usually I moved away or our schedules stopped being compatible). Most turned into long-distance friendships, a couple of those women are married now, and in one case I'm friends with her and her husband. And he knows. And he's fine with it.

This is all so easy for me, I really don't understand people who can't control their urges and emotions. So strange...

yepp been in a few of those and one fuck buddy, never really cared for it myself, i just did it to please the other person usually since they really wanted to, and since then i haven't really cared for it anymore.

Then again, I have been in relationships where the girls used me as a fuck buddy essentially and basically broke me in half emotionally when they said they were just using me for sex as a rebound until they got their ex jealous or found someone else. if they had just said that from the start, i might have been okay with it, but they lied and deceitfully used me, so pissed me off/hurt, so i try to avoid FWB for the most part, just to make sure no one gets hurt in the process.

pretty all the sex i have had in the last 3 years is the friends with benefit type, and it has never caused any problems or anything, fact is there is nothing overtly special about sex, only has as much meaning as you give it, so if two friends want to go at it when bored then there is no issue and shouldn't be an issue (you know solong as everyone involved is sensible and mature about the whole arrangement)

dont get me wrong im not saying there wont be problems, but you look me in the eyes (figuratively speaking) and tell me that normal monogamous relations dont have problems and are prone to less problems then those friend who sleep with each other. i mean no two situations will ever be the same so in one case friends may go sour but its just as likely that a relationship will go down in flames haha

so I suppose what I am saying is different strokes for different folks haha.

I am in one of those right now. Honestly, we'd probably pursue a monogamous relationship with each other if we didn't live so far apart.
