After playing a few MW2 matches in a row and getting 20+ kills in each, someone sent me a friend request. It got me wondering: Is this common? Who are these people that do it? Why do they do it?

In Halo 3 my friend (REAL LIFE FRIEND!) had a 50 skill level. He got friend requests EVERY GAME. It was kinda funny.

I've done it before but not recently. Back in my old Starcraft and Jedi Outcast days I used to friend people all the time, simply because they were fun sparring partners.

Yeah that has happened to me a few times when I'm having a good day. Or if I've played with someone for quite a few matches and we've done well.

Of course. That's essentially what people should be doing when someone plays well. And it's not just limited to FPS games - MMOs practically work off this concept, at least for me. Back when I played WoW, that's how I found all my guilds. I'd join random groups for dungeons and then kick arse. Soon enough, I'd get guild invites, and then I'd pick the one I wanted based on the performance of its members.

I usually send friend requests to people who can speak coherently and can actually play the game fairly because I wish to play again with them. Otherwise I have no idea why they do it.

Almost kinda sad as well. For the people friending him, great for him though. I gave up leveling up in Halo when they fucked with the level and XP system.

I dunno, some guy added me once because he was impressed by my sniping in COD4. At least he gave a reason though.

I get friend requests at least every other game in CoD4 because I average 30ish kills every game in TDM.

I get friend requests in Monster Hunter because I'm actually good at hunting (having wide-range +1 and status attack up on a paralysis sns doesn't hrut either). The ones that weird me out are those who add me before we even quest together. Creepy stuff.

Also, I noramlly only actively add people if I've hunted with them a couple of times (random luck), I've enjoyed hunting with them and I feel I've proven myself to be a good addition to a team (so that we are 'partners in hunting' rather than me just 'hitching a ride', ya' know?).
