Bender, Fry and the Professor sitting back and drinking beers as the universe ends around them and Seymour freezing to death outside Panucci's Pizza waiting for Fry (okay he is later rapidly fossilised by a time travelling Bender but it doesn't make watching it any less heartbreaking) have made me well up a bit. Game of Tones had actual tears rolling down my cheeks.

The latest episode of Futurama "Game of Tones" took pathos to a whole new level which for a series whose lasting appeal comes from its underlying emotion depth is really saying something. Fry grieving for his mother.

The Comedy Central Futuramas have been a bit hit and miss, but I have liked the way they have revisited places from earlier episodes and generally made the universe feel a bit bigger and a bit deeper. In one way I'm glad that the show hasn't just been run into the ground, but when they are still producing episodes of this quality it is a shame they aren't going to be making any more once this season finishes.

"Fry grieving for his mother."
Oh god, I haven't even seen this ep but I can see easily how that could tear me up inside...

Not sure if I want to see this.

Game of Tones was really sad, no denying it, but Jurassic Bark is still the saddest episode in my opinion. I'm a dog person anyway, and Seymour's undying loyalty to Fry gets me every time. It's heartbreaking.

Yeah, Game of Tones got me. There have been some damn sad Futurama episodes, but that one really got to me. I'm pretty close to my Mum, too, so it got me thinking about how I would feel if, hypothetically, I was in Fry's situation. Made me sad, y'know.

Game of Tones was a good one, but I think it was played with a little too much comedy. It was a sad one, but it was a good sad, if that makes any sense. Jurassic Bark is still just hard to watch no matter how many times I've seen it.

I must be some kind of heartless machine because I felt absolutely nothing when watching Jurassic Bark or the recent Game of Tones. I liked that it was more of a Fry episode there haven't been enough Fry episodes in that season.

Heh I found it funny about the whole uproar that Seth McFlarlane got a role in this episode and even then it only minor at best (it only lasted two seconds at most)!
Anyway yeah I did find the episode emotional to say the least it's good to know they can still pull it off for the last season.

I'd have to say that I think Jurassic Bark is still the saddest episode of Futurama. I knew that Game of Tones was going to be sad going in (anything involving his family or past generally is) but I really didn't have much warning the first time I saw Jurassic Bark.
Plus, any episode that even shows a hint of Seymour reminds me of Jurassic Bark.

Yeah, the episode is not bad, but Jurassic Bark set the bar too high for emotional episodes in Futurama.

My second favorite would be "Luck of the Fryrish", but it was a different kind of sad. It was heartwarmingly sad, while Jurassic Bark was heartbreakingly sad.

I still enjoy how Bender's Big Score finally gave Fry some closure with his past life. Even if only one timeline allowed him that chance, it was worth it to see him reconcile with his family and be reunited with Seymour.

And then Bender blew up the Pizzeria for a joke. That made me laugh.

Watching Jurassic Bark and Luck of the Fryish is actually the most effective Touring test yet discovered.
Reported for being a clever spambot.

Game of Tones... well, it was sad in a way. But not tears-sad for me, while I completely lost it with both Seymour and Fry's nephew. But maybe that's just me, as of now there's only 2 Futurama episodes, a handful of Doctor Who ones and a selected few youtube videos that actually ever managed to get tears from me.

While I agree that the bit at the end is heartwarming, the result of the underlying issue was a cop out.

I stopped liking futurama as much on comedy central as it just got stupid.

We're shown a ship at the beginning destroying a planet in passing. The ship then approaches Earth and we're to assume that it is threatening the planet as well.

It first makes a noise alerting Earth to it's presence 2 weeks before it gets to Earth. Are we supposed to believe that in that time Earth wouldn't try and destroy the craft? Let's face it, with it only being a small craft anyway, it's not like it would really have been a threat.

Also, we're supposed to believe that a noise that is supposed to be looking for a ship is capable of destroying a planet?

I know it's a cartoon, but it should at least be logical within its' own universe.

It's safe to say that episode gave me the feels. And i was thinking it would have been a merry parody of Games of Thrones!

I always wonder: Everyone mentions "Jurassic Bark" and "Luck of the Fryish" when it comes to emotional episodes (rightfully so, although the plot of "Bark" with Bender fighting for attention is actually kind of annoying)...what about "Leela's Homeworld" (and maybe "Lethal Inspection" and "The Late Phillip J. Fry")?

Do people tend to forget those or am i the only one who finds those really touching?
