I have nothing to say about this thread though, I'll just wait here lingering for a person to denounce the PC as the king of the strategy genre. Then I'll swoop as swiftly as a carrion bird.
It is, of course, notable that none of these words actually begin with an X. I suspect people thought 4E sounded rather silly.
The words are all pronounced as if they began with an 'X'. That's why 4E doesn't fit when you use the name of the genre in a discussion. On paper, '4E' would have worked too.

I think we'll always see a mix of Real Time Strategy and Real Time Tactics games, as they cater to slightly different markets. Strategies are more for the emperor/benevolent master of every aspect, and have a large focus on resources and micromanagement. On the other hand Tactics let you get to the battles faster, and act as a military General, with little to no focus on resource management (see World in Conflict)

I like both, but if I had to choose, I'd say that Tactics will become more popular, despite liking the micro management style better (Rise of Nations is still my all time favorite strategy)

Thou shalt bow to the Lord of Strategic Capabilities!

The PC is the best platform for strategy. And there isn't any sort of strategy that could be as good in Console strategy games. You should add an "All of the Above and More" option. Because that's what I'd vote for.

It would be a hard argument to make. The best I've seen a console do with strategy is making something "passable". Actually, Advanced Wars ranks among my favorite handheld games so I suppose there is some promise for strategy on consoles.
