Poll: Gabe Newell as an A.I. core in Portal 2 - Petition on the Steam Forums

A member of the Steam forums called Bajeezus had this great idea today : Why not have Gabe Newell (President and co-founder of Valve) voice an AI core in the upcoming Portal 2 ?

Although the man isn't an actor, just the idea of hearing him as an in-game character sounds awesome to me. Do you think that it's a good idea ? Or are you sick of all this fanboyism ?

Since the Steam forums are obviously full of Valve fans, they started a thread about it to ask for it : Think about signing the funny petition on that thread if you like the idea. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1241932

I hope I didn't break any rules (I read them first, but I don't post that often).

As someone who appreciates valve for what they've made, but still can see problems such as TF2 xbox support i've got to say, don't you think you've being a little bit too sycophantic?

I'm sure he's proberley a nice person, but I would prefer a Glados voice and not a funny for 2 seconds little valve insider joke for an entire game...

Also as something i've noticed on the internet when it comes to games in general, 'Petition' is a very very bad word.

Aww, i completely misunderstood the thread title, i thought you meant an antagonist like Glados called Al Core (Al Gore).

Back on topic, would it matter if he did? The voice is gonna be digitized and altered immensely to make it more machine like, would people really care that much?

Gotta agree with you there. I like Valve just as much as the next gamer, but this petition thing comes across as a bunch of kiss-arse fanboys.

I would. I don't think it wouldn't be hard to pull off, I mean robots are not exactly emotional so very little acting would be required.
On another note: As far as petitions go, this is fairly harmless. If Gabe didn't do it well, I honestly wouldn't care.

Maybe as an easter egg? Like a separate machine hidden somewhere that when activate says a few robotic lines voiced by Gabe. That would be pretty cool, Valve games need more easter eggs anyway But it wouldn't work any other way.

why is this creepy? It's a reasonable request for the head of Valve to do a voice Cameo... makes them seem closer to the fans and their community. Makes Valve look like they actually give a shit.
