I talked about this in another thread, but now I'm so angry I've just got to give it it's own thread. So there's a new trend in pranks going on, seeming to follow the tradition of "coning" but brought up to a new level of asshole. It's called "gallon smashing." Basically, you go into a supermarket, grab a gallon of milk or juice in each hand, and while nobody is looking (but still close enough to hear you and see the aftermath), slam yourself and the jugs on the ground, smashing them open. Then when the store workers come over to help you up, you pretend you're having a terrible time standing up and slip all over the place.
Apparently, it's supposed to be funny.
As you can see I'm not so impressed with it. I've worked in the service industry before, so all I see when I'm watching this is some poor people who are being paid way too little to have to deal with this shit, and possibly having their jobs put on the line because if their boss sees the store being put at risk of being sued then the first ones who are getting thrown under the bus are the workers who were the closest to the accident. Whether it's the guy who might have mopped there recently, or the one who had the scaffolding nearby it's them who are going to suffer their boss's questioning. All because some stupid brat who has clearly never had to work a day in their life thought it was funny.
But what do you all think? Am I just being an old person in a 21 year old's body? Is this actually funny enough to excuse the mess and risk involved[footnote]And by "risk" I mean the risk of workers losing their job. I couldn't give a rat's ass for the "risk" those brats are taking.[/footnote]?
