Seems I'm the only one who voted for Motion Control. I haven't had any problems with it.
I'm doing the same.

Not that I prefer one of those three over the others, but considering the general opinion that takes hold every time this is brought up, I'll certainly favor the underdog. I've had very few problems with the Wiimote, and none with the Wiimotion+.

I want controls done well regardless of the method, buttons or motion. However, I actually like motion controls a lot. The Conduit's IR based targeting pretty much takes second place in FPS control (next to mouse and keyboard), No More Heroes used the motion controls in a subtle and often hilarious fashion, and say what you want about the Raving Rabbids minigame collections, the controls are a blast and you look and feel stupid for doing what the game asks (in a good way). Overall, motion controls aren't bad at all. I wouldn't mind if they stayed (which appears to be the case to the chagrin of many people on this site).

This poll is pretty flawed: I like motion controls, but I think keeping non-motion controllers would be a good idea as well. Where is the 'all' option?

Motion control is an evil control scheme from the darkest depths of hell to make us gamers look undeniably stupid.

If we follwed that line of logic, all games would still be 8-bit 2-D affairs. Change is necessary for the medium to evolve. Also, use proper punctuation and capitalization.

I have to say yes, and before everyone jumps on me, let me clarify this. If motion sensing never gets any better than the wii, then no, I don't want it. However, motion sensing is one of the first steps down the road toward something akin to a virtual reality game, and dang it, I WANT TO BE A JEDI! I want to swing a light saber around myself and fight Darth Vadar...it's just that simple.

Seriously though, the most recent innovations in gaming have been 3-d graphics and the analog stick...can you imagine what our world would be like if people had rejected these the way we are rejection motion control? I can only shudder to think.

Until they get a full body sensor with a movable pad underneath you so you can run, I'm not going near any motion game. EVER.

I like all 3 but only for certain games. I remember when I first played a game like Red Steel, besides the arm craps I thought the idea was great for swords or maybe even other fighting games.

But besides that I'll stick to controlers for now.

Even though I owned a Wii and hated it with the fiery passion of a thousands suns I realized something yesterday after overhearing a conversation at a store about it. It is not meant for people like me. I have spent the better half of 30 years with a joystick in my hand pressing buttons. That is my comfort zone. Where things like the Wii or Natal are new. Putting me in the same place as a non gamer goes when I toss them a controller and say get to work. I don't understand. I have to relearn if I am going to get any enjoyment from it. It seems it has flipped the whole "casual" and "hardcore" labels. All of a sudden people who were "casual" are "hardcore" and the "hardcore" have become "casuals". Who ever though Gramps going to a retirement home would teach him to be a gamer?

It's one of those things I will invest in and wait for the final outcome,
It's something where I feel like I am just going along for the ride waiting for the bus to get to the final place.
It makes me feel like I'm part of the project, I give helpful advice to the company's and just have fun with it.
I can't wait for the final outcome.
I've never treated games as serious business, I always have fun with them, that's what happening with me and motion sensor I like playing (Resident evil 4 was blast) with the motion controls.
Just have fun with video games, that's what they were made for.

Controls to me are always tools used to interact with something external to us. Actually a lot of cooking shows state that in order to make some meals you have to use the two best tools given to you: Your hands.

The Wii is interesting in that it brought people who never had any interest in gaming before are now having fun with games. I think it has to do with the motion controls the Wii uses--but there may be more as well. Aside from the motion controls and the hype of new games, the Wii also has a built in emulator that allows people to play their favorite old games (legally). When the Wii controller is tilted 90 degrees counter-clockwise, it almost works as the Nintendo Controller.

I think to something else that has a "control" to it that is used to this day but has never really changed yet is simple for everyone to comprehend: The driving wheel in cars. Now the driver's seat may be different in each country and driving a stick-shift is different from an automatic, but has the "controls" to drive a vehicle ever changed drastically?

I'm sure motion controls could make a good game, but one problem games develop that may hinder people getting into them is they keep changing the controls associated with them. In the Nintendo era we were content with having a d-pad and two buttons for all interaction in the games--now our controllers have two analog sticks with six-axis capabilities. I just think some games should go back to simpler times so everyone can understand the controls for them...

As Yahtzee says, motion sensing is unimmersing without physical feedback.
My personal opinion is that if you need to have motion sensing (witch you don't unless you want to get rid of some extra money) use something with force-feedback like a joystick or the Novint Falcon.

But in the end it's just a gimmick that is not necessary but can be fun.

I like having both motion controller and plain controllers, as they both have a plethora of advantages over the other.
