Poll: Game genre that needs the NEXT BIG GAME.

What game genre are you hoping has the next big game? A game so big it might even get a CoD head to give it a try @_@! Maybe you hoping that a big game comes out for a not as popular genre like horror. Or maybe you just want an even better FPS that changes the way we see shooters.
There are no wrong answers. However any answer you give will be most likely wrong =D. ( Thats sarcasm for those of of you who are a bit dense )

Anyway Im hoping that someone finally does a great horror game. And no Dead Space is not a true horror game. Im talking Fatal Frame and Silent Hill 2 for anyone who doesn't still need a night light.

I don't know which offends me more: your use of the plural "genera" to refer to a singular type, or the fact that the first half of your given options aren't even "genres."

Having said that, I'm looking forward to the next game that can create a realistic post-apocalyptic world (survival, horror, survival horror, whatever) that isn't chasing you around with zombies or radioactive fallout.

I'd like to see the next big game be a shooter/RPG hybrid, like Mass Effect 2 or New Vegas. I've really been getting into them over the course of the last year, and watching one topple Activision's sales figures would make me a very happy man.

Going to say fps. If I play another game that lets me hold 2 weapons, and I can sit behind a wall to get health back I will scream. I want a health meter, and a crazy arsonal of unrealilistic weaponry

Platforming needs a good jolt. Mario's kind've a given now and I don't think Ratchet and Clank is going to be enough.

Personally, I'd love to see another arcade-style beat'm up, but I'm assuming the genre's pretty much dead. Ah, for the days of X-men, TMNT, and The Simpsons.

There's actually a new game coming out pretty soon, called "Nuclear Dawn" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_Dawn). I vaguely remember seeing some gameplay from it, but can't guarantee its quality. Anyway, check it out, it might interest you.

About platforming, try The last Gardian. You know the guys who made ICO and Shadow of the Colossus! If those aren't good enough platformers for you then I can not help you. I do agree with new arcade style fighters. I like the idea of Marvle vrs Capcom but it plays to much like Street fighter.

I honestly suspected this poll would be about space shooters and then some generic genres. I think FPS/TPS could be removed though as honestly they have been topping the charts. RPGs got Mass Effect series and Oblivion. I would say TBS. Civ is about the only game in that field. I would like to see some games come out and show that TBS still has some worth to its mechanics. Civ can't do that by itself. The fact I even have to mention X-Com and Age of Wonder's old asses is sad.

The space trader/combat genre, as well as RPGs and MMOs.

Of course... Alpha Centauri could use a sequel :-(

An MMO with RTS elements.

You control a player, who can run around the world, buying sword/gun upgrades, duel people, while also being able to control mass armies RTS style and duke it out with a foe, with your hero character as the king. If the king dies, then you lose the fight.

This would never work, but it's fun to speculate about it.

Nuclear Dawn is out this Q1 2011.

Empires Mod for HL2 has been out for more than a year.
